Matthew Skoff of Penn State - love this setup, with more goalies had this leg pad design.

Love my Vaughns have worn them all and much rather my custom Vaughn gear also helps they are about 10 min from my house lol.

Johan Gustafsson and I have been working together for many years, since he was a teenager. And Pingu always pop up on his masks. It was Johan´s favorite cartoon when he grew up, and same for me.

And when Johan moves to Frölunda of course Pingu comes along, and of course shows up as an Indian. Pingu looks up a bit scared, he is afraid of all the shooting pucks…

Around it I created an old school design which breath Frölunda Indians to 100%. The indian Chief on the top in focus was a sure thing for Johan.

Thanks Johan, I am so happy and proud to be your artist and paint for you in your hockey career!

And just as usual the designs are loaded with details, among the a road sign, yep, you always find it on Johan´s masks…

Those shoulder protectors though

All goalies don't even use chest and shoulder protectors like those that basically cover the top shelves when he goes to butterfly. They should be made illegal for sure. To me it's a much bigger problem then the leg pads. Hank's artificial shoulders are atleast 4 or 5 inches too high.

If you have ever noticed, any goalies who work with Mitch Korn use a smaller chest protector... Rinne, Holtby , Lindback etc

I have always liked Halak's style. I love the orange cage, it beats the typical white, grey cages.

So in theory, if every goaltender used the maximum sized pads then they'd all look the same. Since the maximum sizing of leg pad has shrunk not too long ago, it's safe to assume that most goalies do use the maximum size. His have always just looked huge in comparison to many others from my perspective. Don't know why.

Yep, those shoulders are way too big.

The reason Halak's pads look so tall in that picture is because the outer knee flap on his pads are the same color as his pants, making it look like his knee is much lower than it actually is, and thus making it look like there is way more pad above his knee.

The second Halak pic at in goal mag shows better where his knee actually is, and the pads look in line with everyone else in the league.

They're both owned by Adidas. They began the phasing out of Reebok when they switched the Reebok Ribcore Shadow to the CCM Ribcore 40k powered by Reebok. I worked in a sports retail store. Got to try out the Ribcore when it was still called the "Shadow".

It always cracks me up when people forget who owns what.

Like my friend that hates Honda but likes Acura...lol.


Adidas owns CCM, Reebok, Rockport and Taylor Made.

Those are the Bauer Supreme 1S OD1N (not sure why there isn't a Bauer logo on Dubnyk's pad though). The pad is flat-faced and the graphic is screenprinted directly on to save weight. For some reason the colours look really washed out though.
