Wonder why all the pads are going with less straps. Velcro doesn't last all that long.

I find velcro to be more comfortable for the areas that I like my straps tighter.

Not sure how to post this like the rest of you. But here is Varly's mask for this year. Or one of them potentially given the Stadium Series game. Not a huge Dave fan, but I do like this one. Might be bias though.

Pretty nice. The snowflakes could mean an outdoor game, but it could also just be the fact that they're the Avalanche. Says it's his 'backup' mask, with the main one arriving soon.

I was thinking it was for the outdoor game as well. We're yet to see those uni's and the helmet is a bit of a stretch from other masks he's had. That said I love it.

One of the most boring pads I've ever seen.

Johan Gustafsson and I have been working together for many years, since he was a teenager. And Pingu always pop up on his masks. It was Johan´s favorite cartoon when he grew up, and same for me.

And when Johan moves to Frölunda of course Pingu comes along, and of course shows up as an Indian. Pingu looks up a bit scared, he is afraid of all the shooting pucks…

Around it I created an old school design which breath Frölunda Indians to 100%. The indian Chief on the top in focus was a sure thing for Johan.

Thanks Johan, I am so happy and proud to be your artist and paint for you in your hockey career!

And just as usual the designs are loaded with details, among the a road sign, yep, you always find it on Johan´s masks…

You know, with a few adjustments, that could actually be a really cool design for the Blackhawks.

Imagine the millions in free press the NHL could get if they collaborated with actual artists/designers on these mask designs.

The details on the Dave Art masks are kinda fun in the same way truck paint jobs are fun. The paint jobs breathe early 2000 IMO.

I think things will change in the upcoming years. Most folks seem to prefer less cluttered designs (at least the shine and lens flares...) anyways.

I think it's because with leather straps, people pretty much don't attach 90% of them anyway. The Brian's 'smart strap' thing actually feels good when trying it on in the store at least. Haven't heard how the longevity is, but I think it's relatively simple to replace the straps anyway and cheaper than leather?

I hate when Daveart shows just little piece like this, just show the darn mask already!

From just the little bit show I really like Bobs lid so far, just hope his pads are as boring as the last couple seasons.

Those shoulder protectors though

All goalies don't even use chest and shoulder protectors like those that basically cover the top shelves when he goes to butterfly. They should be made illegal for sure. To me it's a much bigger problem then the leg pads. Hank's artificial shoulders are atleast 4 or 5 inches too high.
