If we have a terrible goal song it's nobody's fault but our own.
What a damn shame that would be.
I put it on ownership. This was handled poorly. Last time we changed our goal song it didn't receive this response. The way they went about it made it so any song they chose would likely be met with hostility.
If they give us a horrible song they will reap what they sow.
I wish the team would bring it back for the year and say "look, enjoy it for this season. We made a mistake. This song will change after the year. No matter what. you have an offseason to suggest songs, chants to the song, etc... We will play the best songs during the preseason and you can vote. If you attend a preseason game your vote counts double."
This could have been different. The Devils could have created excitement over the change. Goal song options could have been blaring at fan fest, a booth could have been in the concourse with headphones for various options where fans could listen and vote. You could have fans arrive early to game, blast different songs, and practice during warm ups. Put fans in the seat even earlier.
This is all on management. They're making this management vs the fans. They could have done this better.
