I thought it was a goal song talk thread? Am I misreading where it says 'hate everything that isn't what it always was talk' for the thread title? Funny. Your view can be posted for a bunch of threads, but anything otherwise can't... I'm learning how this show works, albeit ever so slowly. Please let me know anything else that I should be aware of.

I don't want to make this personal. All I'm saying is that you've spent pages telling us how ridiculous we are making a huge deal about the goal song. It's fair criticism. We may very well be ridiculous. Who knows?

But if it bothers you so much that you have to reiterate this daily then just hit the X on the main page and move on.

I don't see what the point of your posts are is all. Maybe I'm alone there which is fine. Wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong.

I agree with you. In my opinion, all we need is a good song, a great team, and decent attendance. I don't think it's RRP2 itself. It's just the lack of a good song right now.

But I don't think it's the worst thing in the world to have our fans, the more casual ones and even the hardcore ones, care about something. Care about traditions. Care about the goal song, Song 2, and notice chants when they're not around anymore. It means our fan base is starting to care. It's a far cry from 1982 I imagine, right? It's not a bad thing.

Out of the options "voted" upon SNA was the only thing resembling a "good" goal song.

You're right it's not the end of the world, but it is 100% a tradition. How is it not? Would people be mad if they changed the design of the jerseys? Of course they would, because we have worn the same jerseys for the past 20 years.

Its the same with songs too. Same with Yankees playing "New York New York" or Red Sox playing "Sweet Caroline". When I go to the Devils game I like hearing the traditional songs (After a win= Song 2 - Glory Days - Beautiful Day). **** I even want to hear "Bittersweet Symphony" after a loss, because they have always played that. There's just no reason to change is all I'm saying. It is what it is though.

Exactly the way I feel. And I'll leave it there.

I just remember being at CAA and recognizing the mission impossible theme when we were on the PK for example. Hearing Song 2. It helped me identify with the team and the game experience. But hey, they don't play mission impossible anymore on the PK. So I got over it clearly. Like you said, it is what it is. I even feel that way about the goal song.

You're telling me that I shouldn't be posting on the topic more than once, but its cool if everyone else goes on with the same posts day after day. If it bothers you so much, why do you keep reiterating your view daily? Nice double standards, bro. I see whats going on here.

Song 2 is only more noticeable to me since I was a season ticket holder for 'one' year at the Meadowlands and every year at the Rock. There are plenty of younger people now who identify with the Rock more than the CAA.

It may not be significant but I just don't get what the point of removing it is. Like someone else said I may not agree with them changing the goal song (especially the way they did it) but I could at least understand why they did it. The Song 2 removal just smacks of making a change for change's sake more than anything else. I get the feeling if they changed the uniforms and had some crappy color scheme the same people would be telling us 'it's not significant, it's just a look'.

It's to the point now where I'm shocked they didn't change Glory Days. Then again Springsteen's Jersey-bred so he's fine in their book.

We are supposed to be celebrating
goals with happiness and passion.

It's a shame they went this route.
I hope it gets settled somehow without doing unrecoverable damage.

No one is stopping fans from cheering. They're choosing not to. If fans aren't celebrating a goal that's their fault now.

For those who are questioning, since AT LEAST 2000, it has been Song 2, followed by Glory Days after a win. I think they starting playing Beautiful Day after Glory Days when they moved to the Rock.

Great post, you get it.

Just curious...where you at the game when played the Bon Jovi song? Did you celebrate when the song was playing...if so what did you do? Were u just yelling, whistling, just clapping, did you sing along to the song? Honestly just curious, because in your mind the song has nothing to do with how you celebrate, but it seems like it matters for everyone else.

I usually chant along with RRP2, so idk how to celebrate to the other songs...

It's hard to get into a rhythm when you don't know the song.

Possibly when they finally chose and stick with one, but for the four home games the goal song has not worked and angered a great percentage of the fans in attendance.
SNA is the only one so far that got even a decent reaction.

And not playing Blur tonight after the winning horn was a disappointment to me and other fans around.

Definitely tweet back and write letters to the team to fix that. There is no reason not to play Blur after a win.

I did everything the same as I did last year. And as I have for any goal song they've used this year. I do whatever yelling or cheering I do and its with a general disregard for the song playing. I don't wait for a musical prompt to tell me what my rhythm should be for cheering. I'm cheering for the fact my team scored and worry about the music secondary (well, much lower than secondary, but if we're only ranking two components here).

I'm not saying its easy to deal with when its a new song every game. But its not like everyone is going to be happy as can be when one is picked and they stick with it. Anyone who is unhappy now is going to be unhappy then too. The difference is, as I've said much earlier in these discussions, is that people are going to get tired of trying to "act out" about it and try to make some kind of statement by booing the song. The "management better realize we are not giving up on this one" people that refuse to accept anything but the old song will stop fighting it, but that's just because sensibility will eventually sink in to stop making a big deal of it all.

I don't like or care about football, and at the same time don't know why there is a football thread here.

But with that, I have never went into that thread and asked why they care about football so much or try to make them feel silly for caring about it.

I simply stay away from threads where I read the title and come to the conclusion "that is not important to me."

For the sentiment, I like football.

I don't post in every single thread on this board, so perhaps that notion is not new to me. How do you know if I care or not about the subject at hand here? Maybe I do care, but I don't take personal offense to the change of a song? Maybe I don't have the same negative attitude to every alternative that's put out there as others? Last I checked, this is a discussion about the goal song. Not a discussion about how much everyone hates the goal song. Maybe I'm reading the title wrong and missing some words in it. Let me know if I am. It seems your problem is with a dissenting opinion, not with how interested I am in the topic.

Maybe because you spend more time in this thread replying to people to make them feel like what they are discussing is silly? Maybe because you haven't offered anything as a goal song alternative in a "new goal song talk thread"? Maybe because it seems you spend all your time writing questions marks where they don't belong in all of your posts instead of discussing the actual topic? Sorry I'm new to this whole kind of asking questions to bypass points I don't have answers to thing. How am I doing with it? I could be reading you posts wrong or missing some questions in it. Let me know. It seems your problem is with people caring about things you find insignificant, not with the actual topic at hand.

Less talking about each other, more talking about songs. whether we think it is significant or not, this thread is about the goal song. Lets just focus on giving our opinions on the songs being played or not played instead of discussing whether it's important or not (yes i realize i did this a page ago, never said i was perfect).

Im gonna start off by saying I dont mind RRP2, I just dont like the chant added onto it, I find it unnecessary...

now with that said did anyone else notice the hypocrisy of the management last night, they said they got rid of RRP2 to make the arena more family friendly, yet last night they played the Humpty Dance, probably one of the most un-family friendly songs I can think of

I did notice and also noticed the irony when Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side" (with Lyrics) and Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher" (no lyrics) were played

Getting back on topic here....

I didn't mind the song last night. It was certainly better than the one during the VAN game. IMO 7NA wins it. However I am more upset at the lack of Hells Bells when the Devils come out.

Here I go again bringing it off topic.

Bring back Hells Bells when they come out for the first period.
Welcome to the Jungle when they come out for the 2nd period.
Seek & Destroy for the 3rd.
And Blur after the winning horn.

Bring back those traditional songs and the goal song change is easier to take IMO.

7NA was clearly the best out of the 3.

It was so awful last night. After cheering for the goal, I just sat down cause the song has no feeling.

If anything other than SNA wins, this is a complete charade by the devils.
