The Howl song is growing on me. I place that #3 in my current list:

1) Fall Out Boy - Light Em Up (starting 0:50)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=LkIWmsP3c_s#t=50

2) AC/DC - Hells Bells (starting 2:02)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etAIpkdhU9Q&feature=player_detailpage#t=122

3) Gaslight Anthem - Howl (starting 0:00)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bi-7xwh8Z6I&feature=player_detailpage

Of course, Hells Bells is probably not family friendly so that's out.

I think Light Em Up would be a good song, I think it needs some kind of editing so that it has a build up instead of starting at the :50 mark though. I have no clue how to edit it into a goal song, but what I would do is edit together :07 to :12 with :50 to 1:15. That's 30 seconds of song, along with the roughly 10 seconds of a goal horn.

guyincognito beat me to this, but what he said - Vanderbeek (with a big assist from Chambers) is the main reason there is still a 'New Jersey' before the Devils. I understand he had to go and it is nice we have really rich owners now. However, I definitely appreciated having an owner who was a New Jerseyan long time season ticket holder and viewed the team as more than an investment.

Regarding Kovalchuk, it is completely unreasonable to pin his 'retirement' to Mother Russia on Vanderbeek. The Devils having to forfeit pick this year remains, in my opinion, one of the most arrogant displays of GM hubris ever committed in this league. I love Lou but that was a moronic decision the moment we selected 29th that year.
I'm not pinning his retirement on him, I'm pinning the whole decision to give kovalchuk that contract, which basically sent the devils into a tailspin. I think Lou is a dumbass for not giving up the pick. It will probably go down as a gigantic blow to the franchise (so far, it's looking bad) I don't even care for Lou being the GM after this season. However, I don't know if Lou gives that contract out without Vanderbeek pushing him to do so. It set everything into motion. This is for an entirely different thread, so I'll leave it at that.

The point is, Kings Country King overly praised Vanderbeek and called him "one of us" Meanwhile, he did things that I thought were *********, and definitely didn't gel with me as a Devils' fan. Just like these guys are doing now. No owner (s) is perfect.

Without Kovalchuk, we don't go to the Finals in 2012.

I miss Vanderbeek too
I am a fan, not a lawyer, not a financial analyst either
I think he did an awesome job keeping the team in NJ and building the Rock - Izod was great and all because of the winning - but the game experience is much better at the Rock

I just felt like he was also a fan and could relate to us

I feel like some here are apologists for the new owners / management/ Devils employees - but don't be fooled, they don't care about what you think, just the $$$ - don't make it easy on them when they make a decision you disagree with

I do agree that the "one of us" was a bit over the top, although that might be because of my general low opinion of this nation's upper crust ruling class. But yes, I do not want to derail this thread any further so agree we leave it at that.

Back on topic, this vote reignited the simmering Devils Facebook rebellion (it had quieted down to a few mentions of the goal song per post). Almost 600 comments on the post about the vote and saying 95% are in favor of RRpt2 is a conservative estimate.

I just wanna hear Song 2 at the end of the game. Doesn't matter what's played before. The team hasn't won a game yet and most people are *****ing about the goal song being changed? Come on...

How do you know Song 2 will be played at the end of the game?

It's gotta be The Smithereens' "A Girl (goal!) Like You". A true Jersey band, a great riff, and plenty of sections of the song that would work well.

I haven't seen that dude Jim in this thread in a while if at all. But after this, give it another half page. His Kovy sense is going off as we speak.

Since the lockout ended, we are 1-16 sans Kovalchuk.

I have noticed a lacking of a certain Jim's postings lately. I thought Kovalchuk was the problem? :sarcasm:

How about this? :D

Idk but seeing the ECW made me automatically jump to this and want to listen to it.

Not sure about a goal song but its still a good arena song none the less. the 1:18 mark

Also have always wanted to hear this in the arena, a lot of opportunity for sing a long while up beat and energetic.

Thunderstruck was a great intro song way back when, but I don't see how it can be a goalsong, there's really nothing to chant besides Thunderstruck.
