Has anyone heard anything about the Leafs signing Josh Bailey? Heard they were in on him and nothing has happened with him yet.

You will never get jarvis and pesce for nylander and liljegren

If you adding jarvis, probably knies who will be in the deal with nylander and not liljegren...

Pesce and 2nd pick, i dont think leafs would get much more than that
Did you see the returns for Meier and PLD?

Start there. Pesce + 2nd is not even in the ballpark. Again

He has been in the league for 10 yrs and has never hit 40....so saying he has paced for 42 pts a season seems a little misdirection and you used it to make a point. And why just his last 252 games and not all 647? His last almost full season was in 2018 79gams and he had 26 pts. Clearly playing top line minutes with the stars had something to do with his best season ever, which you were disputing.

Because he paced 40 points over his last 252 games.

He played almost full seasons every season.

2019-2020 64 of 69 games (93%)
2020-2021 49 of 56 games (88%)
2021-2022 66 of 82 games (80%)
2022-2023 73 of 82 games (89%)

His point per game over that same period
2019-2020 0.53
2020-2021 0.57
2021-2022 0.45 (0.53 in Seattle, 0.24 in Calgary)
2022-2023 0.53

He has literally been as consistent as it gets over the last 4 nearly full seasons. The only outlier is his 17 games in Calgary, not his 1st season in Toronto.

I mean considering Dumba hasn't signed yet...can we not technically still try and get him if we can make the money work?

Clearly it sounds like they're interested but Dumba overvalued himself in the beginning considering he's still out there

PLD got overpaid due to being a center

Nylander doesnt have that reputation and simply wont bring back as much.

Meier also as a PWF winger was coveted quite highly.

He had a bidding war between a few teams who valued him a lot and wanted him.

Nylander if there is high demand will get good value. We dont often see deals where a ppg winger brings back 3-4 very good pieces so the Meier trade may be an exception

Pesce (Value around the 10th-20th OA1st round pick and a B+ prospect) + Drury (value at a 3rd) + 2nd is what I expect the value to be around if we deal him

Edit: Canes being linked to Tarasenko on the mains which would kill a 88 to CAR deal. Takes out one major buyer

Treliving: I think I have been open and honest in saying I like long D. We still look at that.

I'm glad they are in on Tarasenko, because Pesce for Nylander is much worse than Hall for Larsson.

The Leafs are removing 40G from their roster with zero additions except for a minor boost on D.

There is no way to defend that trade.

Calgary has so many pending UFAs on D that may not sign with them that will be of interest to the Leafs.

Calgary wants guys with term and the Leafs want a different look on the back end.

Blockbuster time;

To Toronto:
LHD Noah Hanifin
RHD Chris Tanev
LHD Nikita Zadarov
Total: $13.2M

To Calgary:
C/W Calle Jarnkrok
RHD Timothy Liljegren
LHD Jake McCabe
D TJ Brodie
G Matt Murray
Total: $16.3M

Calgary gets 2 building blocks on D with term and a forward.

Leafs get 3 better defense and clear Murray’s cap and save enough to pay Samsonov $3M.

Rielly-Tanev
Hanifin-Klingberg
Zadarov-Timmins
Giordano

Leafs hopefully sign Toronto boy Tanev and former London Knight Zadarov to extensions. Hanifin would be great but sounds like he wants to go to the US. So not a bad rental.

Brodie-Weegar
McCabe-Andersson
Gilbert-Liljegren
Oesterle

Everyone in Calgary’s top 6 except for Brodie is controlled past this season.

(Puts the pipe down)

If Pesce only wanted $5.5, Carolina wouldn’t be considering moving him.

This is why I don't like Carolina as trade a partner. Pesce is going to get paid a good amount, and I also think Nylander is worth a bit more value-wise. However, he's not going to get Jarvis as well, and definitely not Necas.

I'm not a huge fan of trading Nylander for Pesce + 1-2M in cap space + mid pick/prospect, but that's likely the most he's going to get.

Tarasenko to Carolina, means Nylander not going there. I honestly think we over thinking this. Nylander and matthews will sign soon and we'll be awesome lol
