Pesce although what we need on our blue line, is not nearly enough for Willie. There needs to be more coming back. Svichnikov would be a great one for one but doubtful Canes would do it.

Going wild!:

Nylander + Timmins + 2nd
For
Pesce + Laughton (retained) *3 way (pick added by Carolina for philly)

Murray + Muzzin + Voit + Robertson for Gibson

Samsonov (signed) + Steeves for Taylor Raddysh

Brodie for Zadorov

Bertuzzi-Matthews-Jarnkrok
Domi-Tavares-Marner
Knies-Laughton-Raddysh
Reaves-Kampf-Lafferty

Rielly-Pesce

If I'm looking to move Nylander, I'd call up Philly and try to get one or several pieces.

There's guys on that team that would change the dynamics of how the Leafs would play and guys that can play up the line-up.

Sanheim, Konecny and Laughton would be guys that I'd look at as part of the deal.

Sanheim's term would scare me the most. But having Konecny score 30 goals and bring something that Nylander doesn't bring in terms of physicality, is the biggest selling point.

I'd also look at trading Liljegren now and adding him in any trades. The Leafs have their PP QB 1 in Morgan Rielly and went through free agency to bring in another guy that could help on their 2nd unit with Klingberg. So if the Leafs only see Liljegren as a guy that can move the puck and defend decently, I just don't see the long-term fit with the team.

Nylander to Calgary makes more sense than Nylander to Carolina Imo.

I don't think think Philly would work even though they have some nice pieces. They're getting ready to rebuild aren't they?

He fits their salary structure.
I think it makes too much sense.

Nylander can win games on his own when he's on. This place stop splitting him into 2-3 supporting cast pieces.

Why would the flyers a rebuilding team pay fir nylander?

They moved out good players recently like Provorov and Hayes just to transition to rebuilding.

They would sell those guys for picks not for nylander

I would agree that he can win games, but the Leafs should be looking to do a couple things:

- Not pay him 10mil per season as rumoured that he's looking for
- Allocate funds to the rest of the line-up including supporting cast players that can contribute physically in the playoffs
- Change the dynamics of the team so that they can win more than 1 round in the past century

I see.

The only good trading partner(need to make trade plus got the pieces) is the Flames.

Andersson plus for Willie.

But I doubt it since we just signed Klingberg.
Can't see the Flames trading for Willy without a contract done, and hard to see Willy signing long term in Calgary.

I'm a big Nylander fan but if he needs a contract in 10s per to sign it's going to be hard to get a whole lot in return.

Basically you're looking a two options:

1. You trade him essentially as a rental to a contender, hence the Carolina proposals. Pure futures or possibly a UFA to be in return the Leafs think they can sign plus futures (eg. Pesce + futures)

2. A deal where you take back a questionable contract, hence the Philly proposals. Sanheim has a big ticket for a lot of years, he's a decent player but Philly looks like they want out of that deal already.

Hayes had a career year last year with 54 points, but was making over 7mill per season. Even during a rebuild, they need players to play with their young stars.

Provorov just didn't seem to mesh with the team anymore. There were rumours that he had been available for a while.

I think they got more options than those two teams.
All depends on if other teams willing to pony up.
Maybe D. Toews for Willie is in the works.

Oh for sure, those are just the examples of the 2 types of deals available. Of course if the contract ask comes down then that changes things significantly

Calgary makes very little sense, IMO. They want players who will sign extensions. Nylander will not do that in Calgary.

NYR Lafreniere for Willy as a basis of some kind of trade? Cap may not work for the Rangers but they are in a dog fight to win now as well and Jersey is big competition for them.

This won’t happen but if Treliving agree a Trouba for Willie straight up trade, that’s next level Hall for Larson stuff. Lol.
