Domi's edge isn't really all that different than someone like Bunting. Not much of a hitter or grinder, mostly just a feisty rat and good around the net, especially to create chances and all that.

He's fairly inconsistent and can be frustrating to watch when he's off his game. But with that said, I do think he'd love Toronto. He really tends to show up when there's pressure and eyes watching.
I don't disagree but the thing with Domi that differs from Bunting is that we've seen Domi back up his talk by dropping the gloves. I'm not saying he's a heavy weight or that he fights a lot but it's a heck of a lot more than the 0 times Bunting did it.

Brad could create a half decent lineup:

Bertuzzi Matthews Marner
Knies -------- Nylander
Domi Tavares Lafferty
Holmberg Kämpf Reaves

Rielly Brodie
------ Klingberg
McCabe ---------
Gio

Samsonov
Woll

Trade
Liljegren - 1,400,000
Timmins - 1,100,000
Järnkrok - 2,100,000
Murray - 4,687,500 (LTIR)
Muzzin - 5,625,000 (LTIR)

Higher than that.

It's surprising to see so many who vouch for talent not be more lenient with Klingberg given what he can produce and defend a defensive dman at $5m.

He got a lot for not being good, that's the issue. I'm good with signing him and hoping he can regain some form, but the cap hit is high.

I'd probably have rathered Gustaffsson and looked to use the other 3.5 million elsewhere.

He's an annoying asshole rat... but we need some of those players. Domi has skill and can back it up. Not sure he'll fight anyone straight on, typically he targets softer players.

I do think Toronto is one city he'll probably give a lot more effort all around which is why I'd really like to make it work if he can take a good deal.

Unless we can get Jarvis and Pesche, I'm trading Willie out west before I trade him to Carolina.
Is it really a big deal if we face him 3 times a years instead of 2? And in either case, there's a small chance of meeting him in the playoffs (slightly larger in the east because of possible division crossover)..

Agreed. I think he works if it's short term. He seems to wear out his welcome in other cities but I think 1-2 years in Toronto would bring out the best in him. He's the type of player to thrive here.

Bert, Reaves and maybe Domi to the forwards. Injecting the forward group with a large dose of asshole. Hopefully it can rub off a bit on Marner and Matthews.

Domi's edge isn't really all that different than someone like Bunting. Not much of a hitter or grinder, mostly just a feisty dirty rat. He's good around the net, especially to create chances. When he's on his game, he's really fun to watch.

He's fairly inconsistent and can be frustrating to watch when he's off his game though. Lazy and soft. But with that said, I do think he'd love to play for Toronto. I have no doubt he's waiting for Toronto to make room for him in some way if it works. He really tends to show up when there's pressure and eyes watching.
Yeah I know he isn’t as physical as you would want him to be and he definitely can leave you wanting more at times.
But he would replace the rat factor we had with Bunting. And unlike Bunting he isn’t afraid to drop his gloves.

f*** it. Take shots at softer players. We haven’t had a guy really do that and back it up in a while.

Well Bunting did do it once against Perry but he was kinda forced to. He actually did pretty well until the refs held him and let Perry continue to punch him for some reason

Bertuzzi was a great fit on Boston and Boston wanted him back. It's a shame that there seems to be a cancer inside the Bruins dressing room as Bertuzzi obviously wanted no part of it.

:sarcasm:
Or Bruins just didn’t want him, lol.
Bruins can’t sign him due to cap.

Domi unlike Bunting can and is more willing to throw down though. Twice this past season Patrick Kane had liberties taken on him and Domi immediately dropped the gloves to respond.

What have they accomplished with Matthews? What is your point here?

The much larger sample size says Brodie is still really good... if we are trading everyone after a 5 game sample size we'd have recycled the whole league through our roster by now.

There is nothing "special" about what Brodie was able to accomplish last year relative to his peers on the team

Meanwhile you continue to complain about Klingberg but do not factor in "context" as to how bad Ducks were as a rebuilding team where forwards don't backcheck at all.

Trading Brodie doesnt dent Leafs much

p.s. i don't believe or trust anything that has "expected" next to it. if that is your foundation for your opinion then we have nothing to discuss. because we have two different ways on how to look at data and infer information

He fights kinda like Kadri. He definitely picks his spots most of the time but he also have a couple tougher names on his fight card too

The problem is Papa Domi is annoying to have around  but yea.

Are they gonna give us those 3 for free and somehow keep them on their cap?

No way that group is cap compliant and we didn’t seem to lose anyone but Jarnkrok

BTW, was there a suspension for the hit from behind by Jost? REally dangerous play. I don't remember anything about it. Another example of the lack of consistency by Department of Player Safety.

I guess it's a matter defining "not good" 5m for maybe only 15-20 points with Brodie can be viewed similarly.

It actually shows why they went for a pure offensive player in Klingberg.
