On the right team, he’s a good two-way third liner. I wouldn’t sign him for 7 years, but his style means he probably won’t decline much or get injured.

He's a dude, a toolsy dude but just a dude none the less

7 years is madness and I can think of ways I'd rather spend 3M

Y'all freaked out when we made all those TDL deals that took away spots from Marlies who were ready to make the jump and now it looks like maybe they want to go in that direction and people still freak out.

Oh come on Steeves wasn’t the answer to a cup run, that was embarrassing to even consider. Our farm team is trash.

Klingberg might be fun but our D is certainly softer. Unless McCabe is on the ice, other teams are welcome to our crease. I’m guessing we pick up a plug for LD3.

Basically no bottom six to speak of and it’s not looking like we’ll have the space for a top six LW. And if we do sign one we’re going to get raked over the coals trading Murray, just like when Treliving tried to move Monahan last summer when all 31 other GMs knew they were desperate for space for Kadri. Murray should have been moved in the last couple weeks.

Not sure how I feel about Klingberg. At least it's just 1 year, I guess. It looks like the idea of the Leafs saving cap space and assets for next year could be true, but I'm not sure how that helps this season. Are we handing roster spots over to ELC guys and let them sink or swim? I wonder if we dip into LTIR as use that extra space to go out and get Domi or whoever.

Holmberg, Abruzesse and Mcmann are the main 3 that people want to help with depth scoring. Can they? Possibly. Our depth scoring isn't gonna be fixed during FA until the cap raises quite a bit so we need draft picks to step in and help out.

Abruzesse looked lost, McMann was a warm body, Holmberg looked good then tailed off dramatically. They weren’t serious options, I loved what we did at the deadline.

Hard to look at today and not conclude we're a worse team.

But if we're going to be candid, the problems with this group were never going to be corrected in free agency. They rarely are. If a meaningfulchange is coming, it's probably by way of a trade. Florida had walk some of the guys they traded for as well (Giroux, Chiarot), and they had a rocky regular season last year, but it was a combination of the trade market and some growing pains that reshaped the club's identity.

Mind you, it would've been ideal if that bit of business here in Toronto could've happened before the draft so we could've recouped some cap space and draft picks.

We should be wary though, there is a trade that's just waiting to be done and then we can hopefully breathing a bit easier.
Judging by everything it’s gonna be an extremely underwhelming trade and I’m starting to think the less moves Tree does the better it is for the team.

He’s like a mix of JFJ, Fletcher (old one) and Burke.

We’re back to being a dumb organization.

Softer on D is it for this team, we simply can’t win actually being softer. Incredible. This guy has no plan or strategy, that became obvious today. Dubas left, we haven’t got our shit together and it shows.

Who could argue we aren’t worse today than yesterday and ainec imo. Feels like we already peaked with nothing to show for it.

We did? Our farm system is full of tweeners, I think it's pretty f***ing clear this team needs more than another 2 3rd/4th line scrubs to fill a void.

His numbers in Minny are quite a bit better than with the Ducks but unless they are moving Brodie out for a juggernaut RD, the right side is way too soft. Obviously they see puck movement on the right as an issue that had to be addressed but I don't see a partner for Reilly.
