Any top four RHD is going to cost you a minimum of a 1st round draft pick.

Not sure what people’s obsession is with Holmberg. He’s a solid young player, but with Kampf and Reaves locked up I think you need someone with more of an edge.
no ...a top pairing will, a middle pairing shouldnt.

Connor Murphy is big, but he's not actually 'good' and Chi just dealt us Lafferty .

I'd like to sign Caleb Jones. He gets unfairly linked to his brother, but he's actually quite an effective bottom 3 d-man. He'd be the type of guy that would be good to rotate with Giordano.

Goalie wise it appears we might bring in Brian Elliott, which is fine. I'd prefer Dylan Ferguson. Younger, and has been in the organization before.

Danton Heinen is someone I'd bring in on a PTO like ZAR, I would expect Josh Bailey as well if he doesn't have a contract by camp.

I see an opening at 4th line LW and if ZAR would be willing to come back, that might be a way to go if 800-900k for 1 year, the player that comes in needs to be able to pk.

Murphy isn’t your top pairing defenceman, but as we just saw with Schenn and previously Hainsey in the past that you need a pure shutdown physical defenceman paired with Rielly.

Leafs out on Norris Trophy winning defenseman as race appears to be down to 2 teams

Heading into this summer, we knew there would be some interesting moves made as teams continue to try to offload salary to give themselves some additional cap flexibility.

Earlier this summer, we had heard reports from multiple insiders that confirmed that Leafs GM Brad Treliving had expressed an interest in San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson. Per those reports, Treliving had been in contact with the Sharks to determine the cost and to perhaps inquire as to how much of Karlsson's $11.5M cap hit that Sharks GM Mike Grier would be willing to retain.

The Leafs weren't the only team interested, however, as both the Pittsburgh Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes were also in the mix. Well, according to the most recent report by Penguins beat reporter Josh Yohe, the Pens and Hurricanes are the two teams who remain in the mix for Karlsson's services.

To be honest, I'm a little surprised to see Kyle Dubas and the Pens as a finalist on Karlsson, as the Pens already have an aging core and not a lot of cap room.

To me Carolina is the one that makes the least sense. Carolina is already stacked on the blueline. They have Brent Burns, the very same player who San Jose couldn’t figure out how to share time with Karlsson with. Both their performances suffered while they were teammates because they were in direct competition for the ice time and opportunities their games needed to be effective

Good. I want no part of a Karlsson trade, even if SJ retains salary.

Why give up considerable assets for an aging offensive defenseman that doesn't address our most glaring need on the blueline?

Leafs were out the moment they signed Klingberg.

I am actually not surprised at all, as this is an all of nothing move for the Pens.
Would surprise if they also try to squeeze Kane and Toews in too.

Brodie + Nylander + 1st for Buchnevich + Parayko. Blues can resign willy or liquidate both at the deadline. Leafs get A top RHD for Reilly and an excellent two way top line winger.

I’ve thought about Parayko, seems like a Treliving target and someone who can get his game back on track playing with Rielly but if he doesn’t, that contract could become a disaster.

Pens have a very small window to get one more run with Crosby and Malkin
And then they're going to blow it up anyway and into a rebuild
May as well take as big of a swing as possible with what little hope is left

I don't see how getting rid of our top shutdown dman (Brodie) for a 3rd pair Dman helps us.

Who are we sending out there against Kucherov and Pastrnak?
Zadorov would smack them around ...they couldnt dance and slash and get away with it with him on the ice.
Leafs D was of the mindset, thank you can I have another.

What the hell are you talking about?

Zadorov never has played against any top lines cause they'd light him up on the ice.
Schenn is a worse skater than Zadorov and Schenn did pretty good in the playoffs
Zadorov would slot in the same way that Schenn did in the playoffs, though during the regular season he may be a 3rd pairing guy.

.come playoff time, he'd be a beast, he's bigger and meaner than Schenn

Allow me to cry myself to sleep that we aren't moving Heaven on Earth to get this guy.

.......... and allow me to giggle into flatulence when Dubas burns through Pittsburgh's picks, prospects, and salary cap to get him. The honeymoon already looks rocky in Pittsburgh after the Jarry contract.

New place, same shit for Dubas I guess.
