We also haven't made a trade, we had the money to take on a player or two in positions of need but it's crickets

I don't mind UFA but it can get expensive very quickly if you're filling a bunch of holes

And people wanted to pay a high price to acquire Bastian.

The New Jersey Devils are also still negotiating with former RFA forwards Jesper Boqvist, Michael McLeod, and Nathan Bastian, none of whom were given qualifying offers today, per ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski. Wood-Kampf- Fischer/Brown
Fischer/Brown-Lafferty-Hathaway
Holmberg as spare.

Really any two of those 4 would be great and contribute to "identity" for the F group. Fischer/Wood/Brown could also *potentially* work with the big guns chemistry wise, which *could* enable a 3 line top nine.

Given our cap situation and the amount of bottom pair defense and bottom 6 forwards, I cannot see how BT would seriously consider either. In what world would he sign Holl over Schenn and Kerfoot over any of the dozen bottom 6 players via ufa. I think BT being polite is being misconstrude. I also think the fact that we are only hearing about Reeves makes me believe BT is big game hunting. Just because we are not hearing names doesnt mean he isnt working hard.

We need a top 6 winger probably more experienced then Robertson and 2/3 of a 3rd line. I cant see kampf as a 3c, he doesnt have enough offensive upside. We also need 2 top 4 d imo. Reeves is neither here nor there. Not sure he is a value add.

I think the Leafs would go with a 3A-3B type of lines.. similar makeup and calibre of players

Matthews loves playing with Jarncrok, and assuming Nylander doesn't have a deal in hand he's going to need to put up away from stars to prove that he's not a passenger if he wants a UFA payday.

If they can grab Duchesne, I think splitting Nylander and Tavares would be fairly straight forward.
