Duchene might actually be willing to come home for a decent price. Worth investigating.

It's nice knowing we're in on Brown. Reaves is whatever.

I would say probably around 6M for 4-5 years if I were to guess.

6 maybe a little steep for me not knowing what we get back in a Nylander deal (working under the assumption he's traded.)

If we get back a player on an ELC, would be all for it.

Tavares/Duchene-Tavares/Duchene-ELC

I don't get the Duchene buyout. 2 years removed from 86 points and 56 last year in 71 games. He led the team with 22 goals. We have to be in on him.

This is esp puzzling when you consider the cap hit:
from 8 mil for 3 years to 2.55M, 5.55M, 6.55M, 1.55M, 1.55M, 1.55M.

Not a lot of saving there.

More likely, they do it to get saving on real salary: 9M, 6M, 5M to 1.55M x 6

Duchene would be an interesting pickup, but he'll likely attract a LOT of attention in free agency

Happy to hear about the Brown news - he does strike me as a Treliving type of player.

Just a pure guess. Maybe he takes a lot less considering he's getting paid through his buyout. But I suspect teams are going drive it up.

I’d take Connor Brown back in a heartbeat.

Duchene is an intriguing option.

6 mil for him as a replacement for Nylander is something to think about for sure. Plus the return for Bill.

Acquiring Duchene would make up alot of the offense lost in a Nylander trade.

Not only that but trading Nylander will also be a massive hit to our overall team speed as he's our best skater up front, so bringing in another fast skater just lines up so nicely.

It would give us the chance to really add some nice pieces in a Nylander trade to make us a more balanced team while not losing so much offense.

I think we should just buy out Murray as well while at it.
I wonder if the Leafs are waiting for samsonov to sign before considering buying him out. Otherwise samsonov has all the leverage and we'd force ourselves into a bad deal.

And if Muzzin continues to be on LTIR, it doesn't hurt to have another guy on LTIR mid-way through the season to give room for trade deadline acquisition.

I was gonna say.. Maybe we see a Jankrok deal happen and bring it brown for a similar contract...

Dubas gave Jankrok a NTC?!!????????

Duchene would solve so many problems for us on the 2nd line.

That being said, if we can’t get him, all the buyouts have added some depth. Hopefully drives prices down on FA.

Losing Nylander to give Reves a million too much aav would certainly be something

If things look difficult with Samsonov, the Leafs can file for arbitration until July 5th
