We should be just in the same hurry to hire Brisebois than we were to bring in Julien. The difference is that this one has more chances to succeed.....But this kid will be going somewhere else if we don't move fast.
I think Julien and MB are just a bad match. Julien doesn't have the team in front of him for his style to be successful, but except for a few games, the habs have mostly dominated possession and scoring chances, they just don't have an ounce of talent to finish.. If Brisebois could come in, trade a few pieces for prospects and have a non-disastrous off season, we could be competitive again in a year of two with the core we have. I don't want MB handling all that though, I've totally given hope for him.

He's under contract to a team quite possibly going to a Cup. I doubt Tampa would release him at this point. In the off-season, it's much more likely.
Teams usually don't prevent promotion opportunities for their employees, I think that if he wins a GM job, he gets his release.

That's true, but I was responding to a poster who mentioned a rumour that Yzerman may replace Holland. This could change the Tampa attitude on letting BriseBois talk to other teams.

What experience does Brisebois have? Are there any other candidates regardless of language ?
He's been assistant GM to Yzerman since 2012 and before that he had a role in our organization.

I would love him as our GM but I would like somebody experienced to run the hockey ops. Guys like Lombardi and Maloney would have been great in that role but have been snatched up by Philly and Calgary respectively.

This whole time i thought people were talking about Patrice Brisebois who recently played for the Habs. Apparently Julien is not the same person.

Is Pat Brisson a candidate? He is one of the most powerful men in hockey. Not sure if being a GM even interets him.

Another guy I would say would get an interview for the job, is Patrick Roy. I know a lot of people want nothing to do with him. I can't see him be worst than the last 2 gms we have had.

I still can't believe we started the year with close to 8mil left on the cap. Unacceptable.

He's already being pushed by most of the dinosaurs in the media. Pretty fair guess that whoever the TVA/RDS bozos end up championing will be the next to gut this franchise for presentation purposes.
I think they do it for the show. Because 80% of Joe Blo public think that.
They are not serious if they say that.

Is Julien Brisebois more of a hockey ops guy or a numbers man? I always assumed he was more of a cap guru. The Habs actually hired him out of a Montreal law firm in the early 2000's.

Likely posted here already but here's Jack Todd's piece from today's Gazette. He's on the Julien Brisebois bandwagon as well.

Jack Todd: It's over for the Habs, and possibly Bergevin, too

I agree with most of what he wrote but I didn't appreciate the jabs at Hab fans with his "the lesser minds on social media" and his "cult members" comments. That guy was just born an a**hole wasn't he and he's perfected it over his life.

Bring in whichever GM has the vision of making this team an offensive juggernaut. Tired of the boring defensive system based product we've had for the last decade or so from Martin to Therrien to Julien. Bring in a GM that sees hockey differently and it'll translate into the coaching choices.

Therrien does not belong in the same conversation as Martin-Julien. Therrien wasn't a system coach, no structure, just skate hard, dump and chase, shoot at the net from anywhere and everywhere. It was a complete chaos in our zone.
Julien and Martin are cerebral coaches that put in structure. Unfortunately for Julien, there is very little skill on this roster and the biggest piece is injured. So not very surprised this is happening.

Are they actually discussing a successor in the media? Like on RDS and TVA?

Why are you even linking Todd here? Should we begin a discussion about the "lesser minds in sports reporting" on account of it?

What is the guy trying to prove, that he's above everyone else just cause he still has a gig at The Gazette? Yeah, what a badge of honor. Try Pat Hickey -- also at The Gazette, can't put together two sentences, has managed a career that has spanned decades without ever breaking any story of significance. But hey, he's at The Gazette. Just like Todd. I guess that means that Todd must be uniquely qualified to make condescending comments about a media form that he can't contribute to in a meaningful manner -- especially that the one he's in, is apparently the future of journalism.

Roy, Lombardi or Andre Savard as interim...

Julien Brisebois hired this summer (as i doubt he gets released in season from the bolts), with the interim getting moved up to President of Hockey Ops at that point.
