Yikes. With Montgomery off the market we are now left with Blashill, Tocchet (don't want them) and 2 guys with TNSE connections. The offseason continues to go from bad to worse.

Why aren't they considering Brunette? Of those options with Montgomery off the market Vincent is probably the best option.
we don't know if that is legit yet...

I will be very very surprised if it’s not Arniel or Vincent
I'm thinking Blashill might be the front runner now. He's the only one coming in fresh off a long term HC job. Chevy might be thinking he's got the best shot at hitting the ground... umm, ice... running.

Well at the beginning of all of this... the pessimistic side of me felt like Pascal Vincent would be our next coach just because of the TNSE connections - now the optimistic side of me is hoping for Vincent because he's the best of the scraps.

Complaints on Blashill was that the players couldn't grasp his system and that it was too 'complex'.... he's a great hockey mind and a great interview though...

Sound familiar?

So

Blashill, Tocchet, Vincent or arniel it seems.

Yikes.
I'll assume you watch the Wings a lot. Thoughts on Blashill's coaching?

The players on their farm team seemed to grasp his systems. He led the Griffins to a Calder Cup.

let’s face it. It’s going to be Arniel/Vincent combo.
Its way too early to draw conclusions but I’m getting some 2011 vibes here. Like no plan to fix it and we’ll just draft our way out of this with 7 picks a year.
Past is prologue especially with TSNE.

Nothing like Chevy and Chipman taking to long and losing out on everyone good .

Somethings never change.

Bargain bin coaching for next year is a garuntee.

I’m going to go grab a wardrobe from value village to match the coaching we will get next season
It’s what they’ve done since 2011. Really what does this front office do better than 75 percent of the other teams? I can’t think of a single thing. If you’re a small market team you better be finding some inefficiency to exploit. And TSNE has yet to try it seems

Between the Pipes
Yzerman on Blashill....

“Jeff Blashill is a good hockey coach. He ran a really good program,” Yzerman said in a press conference on Monday afternoon. “I can certainly attest to what has been our program for the last three years because it’s been dictated by me. You cannot judge Jeff Blashill on the Detroit Red Wings’ record. I think you judge it on how he ran this program and how he conducted himself, and he was extremely professional in that.” He added: “Pardon the expression, but he ran a good program. This wasn’t a complete shitshow.”

Yzerman points to the defense as the biggest sore spot. “We’ve been unable to, with the group that we’ve had, specifically in that area, to get better,” Yzerman said. “To get our team to play, both individually and collectively, as a sounder defensive hockey team. And it’s been three years we’ve been trying."

“It hasn’t been a lack of discussion, a lack of effort on the coaching staff’s behalf, or trying. We just haven’t been able to do it. I look at this now as - that’s an area that’s going to need to improve. In order to do that, I’m going to bring in a new coach and see if he can’t do that with the group that we have.”

Honestly though, as I said before, it seems giving up and coming coaching a chance is working in the NHL, Vincent has been successful at all levels, he’s a younger kind and has worked with lots of the jets players and prospects, so he knows the strengths and weaknesses.

If the Jets are looking and moving some of the core and doing a rebuild, why not get a coach in who can grow within the rebuild rather than a “proven” coach who is set in their ways.

I’d much rather see new blood get in than an Arniel or Tochett type.

I don’t know anything on Balshill. Everytime I read that name I think of the old BlackBerry dude.
