Just like the players, there's probably a lot of people who don't want to coach and live in Winnipeg. I remember Chipman lecturing the media and fans on this and we still don't seem to get it. We will have a way harder time building a winning team due to Winnipeg's reputation. So I doubt they are the ones being indecisive about the job, they are probably receiving a lot of rejections. Hence the the True North being too loyal, as that's the only way to attract some people to the organization.
I think that is nonsense. This is an NHL Head Coaching job we are talking about.
Trotz didn't turn down Winnipeg. He decided to sit out the year on full salary from NYI. He tirned down several offers.
Other than that unusual set of circumstances, nobody turns down an NHL HC job to be an assistant coach.
The wait does get a bit frustrating. Chevy does like to grind things out. Montgomery would be nice. It would also go a long way in walking some people away from the edge. If it is Tocchet Arniel combo HF Boards will need to invest in some crises counseling for its Jets fans.
This goes beyond grinding things out. It appears more like an organizational inability to make a decision.
