Just like the players, there's probably a lot of people who don't want to coach and live in Winnipeg. I remember Chipman lecturing the media and fans on this and we still don't seem to get it. We will have a way harder time building a winning team due to Winnipeg's reputation. So I doubt they are the ones being indecisive about the job, they are probably receiving a lot of rejections. Hence the the True North being too loyal, as that's the only way to attract some people to the organization.

I think that is nonsense. This is an NHL Head Coaching job we are talking about.
Trotz didn't turn down Winnipeg. He decided to sit out the year on full salary from NYI. He tirned down several offers.
Other than that unusual set of circumstances, nobody turns down an NHL HC job to be an assistant coach.

The wait does get a bit frustrating. Chevy does like to grind things out. Montgomery would be nice. It would also go a long way in walking some people away from the edge. If it is Tocchet Arniel combo HF Boards will need to invest in some crises counseling for its Jets fans.

This goes beyond grinding things out. It appears more like an organizational inability to make a decision.

I am no longer that passionate about the coaching decision. I Am really comfortable waiting.

Sadly, I am more worried than excited lol

This, except without that bit about being comfortable waiting.

As the wait goes on, I become less and less optimistic about the Jets. The huge off-season to do list, and nothing is happening. Nothing is being done. Nothing is being addressed.

Yeah, maybe there are too many cooks in the kitchen on this one and Chevy just needs to pull the trigger. Today would be nice.

that's not a source

After today we have the July1/4 long weekend and then just 2 working days before the draft.

Already too late for a the new coach to play any role in the draft. Too late for the choice of a coach to influence any pre-draft moves.

Just get on with it! Pick one already!
you realize that the gm's and coaches will be working thru these holidays right?

Full marks for being all in on Trotz even though it fell short. Mark Stone the sequel.

However, the longer this drags on, the more it feels like they have no plan B, and the more it feels like a continuation of last season where things got away on our organization.

They need to stop the bleeding and get on with it.

One of the reasons I thought they should have moved on a while ago.

I’d put more of this delay on Chipman than Cheveldayoff

It's hard to know fore sure, but you may very well be correct. Either way the draft is in 1 week and today should be decision day. I'd settle for a talking head saying so and so looks to be close to signing in Winnipeg.

Agreed, they don't need to have the PC but one of the insiders should leak something.

An announcement before a weekend to me says they don’t want it to be big news (so not a good candidate), a early weekday (Tuesday) says they want it to be talked about and should be a really good candidate.

Let’s hope for early next week!

My opinion is that Chipman sees this business as warm personality and friendship based.
He probably in my opinion should not be so hands on, if you don’t trust your people to make the right decisions then you don’t have the right people.
I believe he overruled Cheveldayoff pertaining to retaining Maurice I read here somewhere.
Seems like the STH side isn’t being handled much better.
Again just speculation on my part.
He seems like an awesome man and a true Winnipeg booster and we should always be greatful for him getting us back into the bigs.
But yes let’s get a coach please and thank you.

I think that they need to do their proper due diligence and that includes having a chance to talk to the Assistant coaches of the teams in the Stanley cup finals if they want to. Everyone is assuming Lalonde to Detroit but what if we wanted him? Or Jeff Halpern? It may take a day or 2 to set up interviews, especially if they want to do them in person to give them a tour of the facilities, etc.

Chevy and the Scouts are running the draft. The coaches input will be minimal at the best of times IMO. If Chevy is working the phones on trades like it appears he might be than that probably should be his primary focus leading up to the draft and then they can announce the coach whenever works.

"Take out the trash day", as it's known in government and politics. Release the news at the end of the week when people will either forget about it or get over their anger about it by Monday.

Blashill is essentially Maurice 2.0, Tocchet sucks... can we just hire Montgomery

First time I've seen Blashill mentioned. Good coach stuck with a bad team, or a good team brought down by a bad coach?

Also, even though Monty seems to be the clear preference here, having 5 coaches still in the mix would say to me that he hasn't exactly overwhelmed the Jets brass in his interviews.
