Is there a relevant quote here or is this speculation? The Holder making the call has a non-specific meaning to me and I don’t want to put words in anyone’s mouth.

He said that it was the look. It's actually fairly standard fare for those kinds of fakes. The call is usually made on the field by either the holder (punter in the case of punts) or the long snapper unless they draw up a specific play. There's no way to know what the look is until they're on the field. Same thing for all the swinging gates we see on PAT's. It's worked out with the special teams coordinators, but that call is made on the field by the players based on the look they're given.

A smart coach isn't going to force his players to run that fake if they think they're going to run into a brick wall.

Maybe they decide before the game, or as a general rule when the situation calls for the call to not be made, but whoever made that call was very unlikely to be aware of the analytics in the moment.

He’s defending the call. The incompetence is taking Dillon Gabriel off the field on 4th down. Perfectly reasonable to force a team to have to get a touchdown when they haven’t proven they could move the ball in the air. It was overthought and they got away with it. If it was 30-27, different story, you’re less sure about getting a stop. Wisconsin didn’t score in the 2nd half. Make their job harder, not yours.
