Day’s head may roll after this debacle. There is an alumni contingent that wants Hartline as the HC. Sure some guys were out but they looked unprepared. In the fourth quarter their lines got pushed around.

OSU looked hellishly bad on the OL. Every time I looked up some DB was flying in on the outside wholly unblocked from a position where it was very obvious someone should block him

It would be pretty hilarious if the final straw that got Day canned was an irrelevant bowl game where he had to fight through:
-the best player in the nation opting out
-his starting QB transferring out
-his backup QB getting injured early
-his 3rd string QB having a noodle arm and looking inept

If I were Day, I’d think about my NFL options but this guy has still only lost 8 games, ever, and the only Big Ten team to do it is Michigan

-Can't help it if Harrison chose not to play. Actually he's been banged up for a while and played through injuries for several games.
-One of the reasons that McCord left OSU was because of death threats made against him after the Michigan game. That's not on Day. The Buckeye fans need to get a grip on the fact that they're driving away talent from the team.
-Day may have made a mistake in giving too much PT to McCord in an attempt to get him experience. There were games where he could/should have pulled him since the game was decided and given PT to the back up QBs so that they could have been broken in to the game. His use of these guys is not Day's style. Usually he's pretty good at grooming QBs-see Fields and Stroud.
-If I were Day and could find a different job, I'd take it and run. Last year when Michigan was beating OSU, the fans were cheering, "Hire Meyer". Now there's that crowd of Hartline supporters lining up against him. With that going type of stuff going on, Day is in a no win situation.

Is Allar....not good? Or is it more on the play calling?
Combination of many things. Bad coordinator and schemes; poor receivers; weak line play in pass protection; inexperienced QB and more. He’ll be ok in time when these issues are remedied. Actually I’d be concerned about him going into the portal and going back to Ohio State

It is what it is. I actually think they made tweaks for the better after they fired Yurcich this year but you’re still running his system & your personnel flaws are still there. You don’t have the horses for a vertical passing game which makes you easier to cover underneath & gives virtually no chance to play in a shootout type of game which they would have had to do today.

You apparently have Julien Fleming in the fold from Ohio State for next year at WR but you have to still keep going in the portal on that front. You’ll obviously implement Kotelnicki’s system this offseason & have to hope his changes can help.

The defense was just in a tough spot today. You just couldn’t mitigate the losses with Robinson, King, & Dixon opting out then having Carter going down before the half. You went up against a top 10 offense this year that was still intact for the bowl game.

Their CB’s got torched today but it’s hard for me to really fault them. You dipped into your CB3-5 today which is a second year & two first year players who weren’t ready for that spot. They’ll probably be better off for it down the line but that’s probably another reason to hate the current climate of college football.

If he’s not in the portal by now, it would be shocking if he did. I know Franklin talked about no opt outs, but, like, lol.

Will Penn State get receivers is the question

The weird thing is King & Fashanu were practicing with the team this week & took part of warmups. King never put out an official statement leading up for the draft or bowl game. Fashanu did for the draft but didn’t make one for the bowl game. Robinson was the most transparent putting out statement on both going to the draft & opting out of the bowl game well ahead of time. Dixon put out nothing either way & was reported to not even be with the team the entire bowl session.

Not that it crazily matters even if King & Fashanu did play as they’d probably be on a noticeable pitch count like the rest of the draft declaring players that opted in but it is weird situation nonetheless.
