So what does college football look like in 10-20 years if it keeps proceeding along this route?
Yeah it's just this weird dichotomy. I want more teams from all over the place to have a chance to make the playoff. But maybe I'm making an exception this year because Travis went down for FSU. So in my mind it feels like a gimmie win. I know you still have to play the game and all of that jazz but it just feels like FSU is going to get blown out by any other team. Heck I member the Micahel Robinson Penn State team and how I wanted them to make the title game so bad but no UF and Tebow. *Exasperated sigh* Those were dark times for me in a Florida middle school. UF football was popping and then that stupid basketball team with that stupid Horford, Noah, Brewer and the other two I'm forgetting and Billy Donovan. Great now I went off on a tangent and ending up ranting.Yeah, the ship has sailed sadly.
The more I think about it, the more upset I would be if a 0 loss FSU didn't make the playoffs. If Louisville wins, yes. But they now feel like Cincinnati and TCU of the recent past. If those teams can't make it in, then there's a hard stratification of the sport. That's bad.
If I were to set aside my rooting interests and teams I dislike, I'd rather see Michigan/Washington/FSU/Texas than any other combo. I don't want to see either 1 loss SEC team make it in the chaos scenario.
Yes, clearly there's a lifestyle here that I simply am not a part of so it doesn't sentimentiate (lol) with me. I'm not trying to be a dick with these questions. I know you and China know that, but just for posterity. I'm sorry greed is dissolving something so dear to a lot of people.
Don't schools schedule their own out of conference games? Why not keep these games going that way, conferences be damned

I don't even know what to make of the expanded playoff because it feels like it will be a step backwards. Like you can limp into the playoff so maybe the regular season matters less with a bigger margin for error.
IDK JOJO YOU GOT ME THINKING. I JUST WANNA EAT MY BOWL OF NOODLES.
It really does have this impending doom sense in my mind the more I think about it. Soon it's gonna be back to the good old BCS system. They could, but they largely don't for various reasons like spiteful administrations and teams who prefer to play as many cupcakes as possible. Schedules are also booked years in advance, so for example when the Big East blew up, it was years before either WVU or Pitt had an opening in their schedule. You may have seen articles about how the near future of Oregon-Oregon St was in the hands of Boise St because it was up to them whether to allow pushing off their games a bit.
It will give more playoff upsets. Playoff seeding will matter more. But yes, regular season games and P5 Conference Championships will matter less for the top tier programs.
Imagine going into yesterday knowing Georgia, Michigan, Washington, Florida St, Oregon, Ohio St, Texas, and Bama were mortal locks. The only real suspense left would have been how many of Penn St, Mizzou, and Ole Miss get in. Frankly I don't think that's an interesting discussion. They're all good and none of them are good enough to run the gauntlet. The biggest decision would be Tulane vs Liberty getting the last guaranteed spot.

Someone still runs these! Spoiler: We never left it.

Fresh egg noodles with a pork rib broth and lots of daikon. What kind of noodles?
They have spent an enormous amount of time on these last three plays.
@Flybynite Villanova with another loss to a Big 5 team, this time Drexel![]()
If everyone wins tonight, I fully expect a gutless Michigan-Washington-FSU-Texas run with both semi's ending in typical blowout fashion. Until we get to 12, it will be another year of the best four "resumes" versus the best four teams. With 12, they'll have more wiggle room to bump teams up/down based on the eye test.I also think it’s weird Texas might not get serious consideration despite beating Alabama by 10 on the road & ending up 11-1 on the year after a blowout win in their conference championship game.
