nobody is giving up on him, he's had his chance to prove he's an elite talent and failed miserably. His days have been numbered since well before the end of the season
I mean getting rid of him after 2 years is giving up on him, IMO, but I'm not getting into semantics. I also think two years as a 19-20 year old to prove yourself as elite is a ridiculous bar to clear, when he was always drafted as a project pick.

Look, if they get rid of him, fine. I honestly don't care that much and won't lose any sleep over it. If they're trading him to bring back two on-ball dominant guards in Trier and Mudiay, then I'd have a problem if they're aiming on bringing in Irving and Durant. Mudiay sucks and basically put up stats in ridiculous usage last year. I'd rather have Frank on the roster and try to develop him more.

Pick 5 + 2020 1st rounder (unprotected). Take someone like Culver at 5. If Kyrie and Durant are coming:

Kyrie/Culver/Durant/Knox/?
Can they do that? I thought you couldn't trade consecutive firsts

You can't.

But I believe you can draft the Cavs' player at 3, and have the Cavs draft your player for you at 5, then on July 1 or whatever the appropriate date is, trade [player taken at 3] for [player taken at 5]+2020 1st round pick.
Sign two star players and accumulate draft picks. Draft and develop players and compete.
Thats not the Knicks way.

Id keep Barrett. He’s gonna be a stud. The drop off from Barrett/Morant to anyone else available after the 3rd pick is massive.

Also, f*** Cleveland. Sucks to really like a player and not be gifted the 1st overall annually doesn’t it?

That'd be a smart thing to do especially if that 2020 pick is unprotected. Even with RJB the Cavs will be bad again.

the big time upside of Toronto winning the East is that in the finals, if Drake tries his usual on court celebrations, Draymond might kill him

Alan Hahn was discussing the craziness of the KP situation in NY.

  • KP tells team I can play this year but I won't, and you guys have to take the hit. Team agrees.
  • KP is practicing, looks amazing and reporters are asking hey when's this guy gonna get on the court he looks almost ready.
  • Knicks give some excuse 'oh but he's not sprinting yet, looks can be deceiving' to cover for KP not playing, just as KP wanted and asked for.
  • KP proceeds to post video on social media of him sprinting, basically telling the fans that the Knicks are full of it despite the Knicks bending over backwards to accommodate him AND take the fall for him. What an asshat.
  • KP then demands Knicks trade him within 7 days OR ELSE. Luckily the Knicks brass was prepared with deals lined up to pull the trigger ASAP before KP goes nuclear and makes up who knows what about the team which would further cement an already solidified rep that the Knicks are incompetent.
  • Knicks have no choice and pull the trigger on the best trade lined up.
Alan said despite all this, KP is really just a good dude who's just never been told No before. Guess what? Kids who haven't been told no grow up to be rude, cocky, arrogant self-absorbed jerks who have zero introspection. At some point he's just an asshole who needs to reevaluate how he's gotten to this point. But the way guys like him think, as long as the league and teams value his talents and kiss his ass, he'll continue with what's worked to this point and he'll stomp anyone he sees fit. He needs a solid serving of humble pie to get himself on track.

Good riddance.

I hope so bad he crashes and burns in Dallas and flames out of the NBA. That Mavs game at the Garden is going to be some crazy sh**

Very big 10 day stretch for the teams in the Garden right there. Going to find out in those days if there is another big push coming for the teams or if the building continues.
