If AD is willing to sign extension here, why is there a movement against trading for a superstar in his prime years?

We have the worst young core in the league. Knox, DSJ, Ntilikina, Trier all suck as pros so far. Only Mitchell Robinson is a legitimately good NBA player. Everyone is acting like we are trading away Jamal Murray or Donovan Mitchell for rental AD.

Yeah I wouldn't hesitate to trade any of our current guys with the exception of Mitch.

I'm starting to get myself pumped up for Barrett. If the AD trade never happens and we stick with him,I think we're getting a damn good player. The kid did average 22 ppg in the ACC as an 18 year old. He was just unlucky to do it in the same years as Zion. I know people are getting on his distance shooting, but it's getting overblown. He shot 31% from 3 and admitted he changed his shot in the summer before the season. If he can push it to near 35% it'd be great. Players who shot 34-36% this year- Kemba, Durant, Donovan Mitchell, Eric Gordon, Chris Paul.

People are acting like RJ is Ben Simmons from outside the paint.

Knox and Trier have had one NBA season, lol. They suck already?

Trier also had a good rookie season, how exactly did he suck?

Ntilikina defensive player has been good, but his offense for sure hasn't materialized yet at least.

DSJ seems okay so far, but he's still only 21.

The point is you don't hesitate to trade any of them for Anthony Davis.

Barrett is the one that would pain me. And Mitch.

DSJ, Knox, and Frank are massively underwhelming. Major meh.

Well, if Gail Benson, co-owner of the Pelicans has her way, Anthony Davis won’t be headed to the Lakers anytime soon.

Ya it's early in their careers, but it's not like they're looking like difference makers. All of them have a long way to go before they become quality NBA players (DSJ to a much lesser extent than the others).

To rule out trading them for AD is laughable.

Oh, if we could get AD for them, I'd drive them to the airport myself..lol

He makes 4.85m which can be used to sign better players.
I understand that, but I also think it's way too soon to move him. Who are they bringing in at that price point that's available this summer? Are they a better long-term piece than Frank?

Plenty of guards in 2nd round can probably replicate what Frank can do.

I think people are overlooking how terrible he is. I'm pretty sure he has the worst WS/48 in the league among PGs.

We will need to clear up space for a max contract.

If I'm the Knicks, Kemba is the PG to go all in for. He's a big game player. Won't cost a max contract like Kyrie will command. They sign Durant and trade for The Brow. Those two with Kemba are a good trio to build around, even if you lose Knox, Smith Jr., and the 3rd overall for AD.

The Pelicans winning the lottery really changed the dynamic of the draft. They really have the Knicks over a barrel if AD will accept a trade to New York. They can build around the Duke buddies Zion and Barrett if they want.

Kemba will easily get a max contract as well.

Same contracts or not, there's no way you take Walker over Irving, lol.
Kyrie and Durant on the same team is daily back page material waiting to happen. Kyrie's knees are also held together by rotten rubber bands.

Kemba may not be a better player than Kyrie, but he would be better for the Knicks team, at least in my opinion.

Kyrie is a much more efficient scorer, better ISO player and younger to boot. It is comparing top 3 player in his position vs. a fringe all star player.

Issue is he is a bit of a nutcase and has injury scares in his career, but his positives outweigh any of that.

Like who? I don't see how he goes from being one of the best off-ball defenders last year to one of the worst in the league in a season riddled by injuries. I'd preach patience with the kid, but this is the Knicks, so that's never happening.

Which FA can be signed with that saved ~$5M?

Passiveness and lack of confidence. He put up a historically awful season offensively. That affected his consistency/effort level on defense that made him good at it his rookie season.

Knicks can't really be patient as they will enter win now mode if they sign KD/Kyrie. As was the story with the 76ers and Fultz.

Trier for one has shown more upside this season. Also need to pay Mudiay.

RJ will be a big time scorer. Has the tools to become a very good defender too.

Another game where the Warriors rinsing opponent without KD is another step closer to NY.
