There’s financial implications for their draft moves last night, and I trust someone wsy smarter than me in Brock Aller to figure it out.

I believe these moves help up the max they can offer Hartenstein now
i have no hope that Hartenstein is coming back. would be an absolute coup.

However i do think the money they're freeing will go to a backup C, and with Thibs they've had great success rejuvenating/developing C. noel, hartenstein.

Sims is very raw, but I wouldn't go nuts and spend a ton on another center. Maybe try and find one before the trade deadline if anything.

Plus they still have their #2 coming up tonight and that might be where they get a bit body center they can develop.

"spend a ton"

not sure what you mean. up against the hard cap as a 1st apron team, they'll have a minimum amount to spend. if Hartenstein leaves, most of that should go to a backup C/PF, and the rest vet minimums (ring chasers?).

Brunson/Deuce/Rokas?
Bridges/DDV
OG/Hart
Randle/OG
Mitch/FA/Randle?

Did we trade up?

Is Ajay Mitchell also a Knick. I hate how bad they are at reporting trades.
It's because of the rules around drafting actual draft picks in the NBA. These trades are essentially draft-and-trades, but I do agree that the way they report them is difficult to follow.

Knicks just traded 2nd rounders again with PHX lol. Leon loves this shit

IQ got 5 years 175M. The Knicks were never giving him that deal. Glad we got OG in the building and then signed for him and Barrett.

Hope it works out for IQ and RJ still. Really enjoyed both players.

iHart got his bag. Hard to turn down that much money over 3 years to basically play the same role as he did in NY and eventually he'll be a bench player for them.

Hope the Knicks can figure out a veteran replacement, but Sims is going to get a shot at the backup role. Need someone behind him because Mitch is a walking injury.

How come the Knicks let Hartenstein go? He’s literally Mitch but knows what the other half of basketball is

They could not pay him as much as teams with cap space. He wasn't turning down 29M a year from OkC when the most the Knicks could offer him was 4 years and 72M. He would have been dumb to not take that contract.

He's not a 29M a year player, but the Thunder have to pay someone right now since Chet and most of their other 2nd and 3rd year players are cheap. Only SGA is expensive for them. Might as well get a piece to anchor your middle that had a ton of success in the postseason.

Yeah I knew that was an overpayment from OKC but was there any way for the Knicks to clear space to pay him that much? How much would moving Mitch have cleared. Seems like such a huge loss given how competent IHart is at basic offense shit. I honestly think I’d have moved Randle over him too lol

It's a structure thing, they literally couldn't offer him more than 4/72.

How come? NBA is so weird with like the different contract types and stuff
They're $50M over the cap now. Even if you delete Robinson and Randle with zero coming back they're still over and they're stuck with 175% of his old salary as the max starting points because they have Early Bird rights and not Full Bird rights (as far as I understand)

I hope they experiment with some small ball lineups with Anunobi at the 5
