My call Kadri will be overpaid. The big question which team will give him 5 years X 8.5 m.
For sure he will not play in Denver at his term
Flyers are all in. They want to make two moves so they can say they are now a contender. Of course it won't make them a contender, but the idiot administration will tell themselves that big contracts = competitive.

The skill was always there with Naz but this year is definitely an outlier.

I think he’s probably closer to what he was during the Babcock years with the Leafs, 30-30 with agitation and above average but not exceptional D. He’s not a fast player but he’s heady and he has a good shot and very good hands.

But this is his last chance for a bag and he took less on his last deal. This is his last chance to get a solid bag to ensure his kids and grandkids will never have to work.

His suspensions and age make it a little ducky but he’s 6-6 or bust; if you offer less than six mil he’ll demand at least six years, and if you offer less than six years you need to pay at least six mil.

He will get it and I hope he gets it.
The guy has Gucci and LV taste. Guaranteed his grandkids will have to work.

I just cannot see a world where GM’s finally come to their senses and not sign him or similar players for too many years. He has had an awesome season but no way I gamble on him being able to replicate it in the future . He will get paid based off this years production but it woild be very very unlikely he continues on this pace for the majority of his next contract.

CGY is a fit *IF* Gaudreau doesn’t re-sign and/or Tkachuk won’t sign an extension.

Of the non-playoff teams, I think CLB is the best fit as they don’t have a true #1 C or 1C prospect (not sure if Kent Johnson ends up as a C, but he should spend another year in college either way).

Only other interesting possibility is if there’s a team that decides to trade their existing #1 for a bunch of other assets and then sign Kadri as an immediate replacement. The 2 best examples if that would be WPG with Scheifele or NYI with Barzal. There has been talk that one or both of those guys may be on the move.

I wouldn’t touch Kadri with a 10 foot pole in terms of offering him a contract. The NHL hates this guy. He’s been subjected to several blantantly dirty hits and plays this year. Hertl’s super dirty cross check from behind being the latest of many examples. Most of these flagrant and intentional cheap shots are going uncalled in the game let alone punished by the DoPS.

Kadri is going to sustain a major injury or three if this continues and it appears it will unabated.

Buyer beware. You’re going to be getting a guy that ends up in LTIR.

Toronto tried to trade him to Calgary but he wouldn't waive his ntc to go there.

I'm still surprised at how many people think there's even a chance for a 5 year deal.

He's absolutely going to get 7. This is his retirement contract.
Kadri/his agent should definitely factor the high probability of a buyout that comes with signing a retirement deal at 32

He likely gets bought out years 5-7 and at that stage he gets what 1/3 of his final 3 years salary or just 1 year out of 3 pay

If he took a 7x7 he'd get 7x4 + 7M over three years when he'd likely be bought out

After a buy-out most guys only get 1 year deal to show if they can stick around due to loss of reputation and doubts amongst GMs when looking to negotiate a new contract, usually at less than 1.5M per year

Kadri is honestly much better off following the data and seeing players in there mid 30s(he'll be 37 I think in year 5 of a 7 year) deal often get bought out and don't play there deal through after they fall off

He should go 4 years term and 6.5-7M. In that case it's likely he only falls off at worse in the final year of his deal and can play it out. After he could probably get a 2 year 3M-4M deal as a grizzled vet with a still a solid reputation

If he’s going to go short, I doubt he wouldn’t want/get bigger per year money. A 4 year deal would probably be at least 7.5-8

7 years front loaded so the bulk of the money pays him over the first 3-4 seasons eases the buyout concerns..

To even consider a 4 year deal it would probably be a 7.5-8.5 aav. Legit top six centers rarely hit free agency these days. He's going to dictate the cost

Gaudreau + Kadri

Would be so Flyers-esque.

You know it! Just like when Fletcher got Parise and Suter. Just like that panned out so well they had to buy them out ridiculously last year, so again we will see this play out with Gaudreau and Kadri. It is as if Fletcher is trying to make the same mistakes he did his first go-round.

The thing that is so baffling is that everyone in the universe can see the Flyers will not be contenders any time soon, except for the idiots driving this team. I can't think of a single person who thinks that bringing these two in would make the team a Cup contender.
