This should be an interesting one given he is having a career year, like far ahead of any previous high, at 31. I am sure someone will be willing to offer him too much money and too much term.

Buffalo doesn't need centers

Krebs, Cozens, Mittlestadt
Having too many centers is a good problem to have. Shift some guys to wing, have depth for injuries, move young guys down to the 3rd line and make them compete for spots. And if it really becomes a problem of too much wealth, you trade someone. All three of those guys are young enough that they can still switch between center and wing anyway. I just don't see that as a factor in Buffalo avoiding going after another center, whether its Kadri or someone else

He's going to get 8+ for sure. He's on pace for 105 points and has 8 points in his last 5GP, so it's not like he's slowing down.

Is this sudden offensive outburst real? I still can't believe my eyes with the season Kadri is having. He was SO BAD last year. In his final 31 games in 2020-2021 (including playoffs), he had 2G + 7A. It was painful to watch when you factor in his bad defensive play and questionable hockey IQ.

Can see Flyers adding him. Plays their brand of hockey and the GM said they would be spending a lot in UFA

7m x 5 is what he probably gets in a normal market, but centres are such a premium that he’ll prob get something like 8m x 5-6

As good as his season has been, his history will still hurt him a bit.

There are a couple of teams in need of a top line center with money to burn. I can see there being more than a couple of teams having interest in overpaying Kadri this year. I see him getting a minimum of 5 years, and a cap hit that starts with an 8. And I see buyer's remorse from the team that gets him if they don't have some other star forwards coming in to help carry the load.

I think without his suspension history, he could be looking at a $9M cap hit, which people would have never thought possible a year ago.

It's going to be too much for too long and any team that signs it should structure it so it's a friendly buyout and doesn't have a NMC.

If he signs with the Flyers, it won't even be that long
It's OK, we can just trade his contract after 2 years. Chuck will trade an unprotected first round pick plus Farabee and York to Arizona for a 7th round pick, so we can free up salary and sign whatever big name UFA is there in 2 years. Then, repeat over and over again until the team is condemned and dissolved.

The skill was always there with Naz but this year is definitely an outlier.

I think he’s probably closer to what he was during the Babcock years with the Leafs, 30-30 with agitation and above average but not exceptional D. He’s not a fast player but he’s heady and he has a good shot and very good hands.

But this is his last chance for a bag and he took less on his last deal. This is his last chance to get a solid bag to ensure his kids and grandkids will never have to work.

His suspensions and age make it a little ducky but he’s 6-6 or bust; if you offer less than six mil he’ll demand at least six years, and if you offer less than six years you need to pay at least six mil.

He will get it and I hope he gets it.

My call Kadri will be overpaid. The big question which team will give him 5 years X 8.5 m.
For sure he will not play in Denver at his term

He might be good for 4-5 years, but he will sign for 7 years.
If you want him for 5 years only, you need to pay him 9M+ or be a tax friendly destination.
Fenton is kinda stoopid, has stupid money to spend….7 years, 60M.

Unless Tampa finds another LTIR loophole and signs him a year for another run after their 1st round exit against Toronto this year.
