Someone is going to sign him to be their 1C and regret it in 2 years.

Regret it in 2 years? Try 2 minutes.

I wouldn't wanna be a fan of the team that signs this dumbass. This has all the makings of a contract that'll age poorly starting before the ink is even dry

I predict he lands in Pittsburgh. There’s the burke connection, malkin is in his last year and off the books next year. Malkin is always injured and if Pitt 1 and done again, I think it might be time to say good bye to geno.

something like 5 yr 7.5 mil. Kadri has shown he doesn’t go for every last drop of money like some maple leafs I know.

He got what he was worth at the time, are you one of the people that make less than they could have made? If so, way to be a team player!

I said it in the last discussion, but I don’t want Kadri to sign with Colorado. I love what he’s doing now and I’m thrilled he’s such an impact player for us this year, but the contract he’s gonna get for this is gonna bite whoever signs him in the ass.

He signed for 4.5m coming off of 39 and 45 point seasons lmao. Wtf do you think he could have asked for? Thats probably like ~5.5m in todays money. I think he got pretty much every drop that he could with that contract at the time. And you best believe he will be trying to cash in for his last deal.

Teams that may need a top-6 center next offseason (alphabetically):
Arizona
Boston
Buffalo
Colorado
Columbus
Detroit
Minnesota
New York Rangers
Ottawa

That's off the top of my head. From there we can start the process of elimination on who a) will have the money for him, and b) current state of team warrants signing him

can pretty much scratch MIN off that one, wont have the cap

Whatever the amount is Avs will lose him for basically nothing (maybe trade rights away before free agency starts). They simply can't afford to trade him during the seaon and can't afford him long term. I like Kadri and he's having a fantastic year, but I'd be worried if my team offered up 5 years at over 7.5 or higher.

I like to think that players like this are free rentals for a team going for it.

I imagine 7+ for 5 years.

Could see a desperate team offering 42 million over 6 years.

It's tough to say I don't see a 7 or 8 year unless dollar value comes down a lot.

Though when have most GMs ever really been afraid to give out term though? Most seem to care about winning over the next 2-3 seasons. Problems a contract brings 7 seasons from now isn't going to be on their minds

Kadri is a UFA at the end of the year and is currently on an absolute heater of a season and hasn't really slowed down at all. He has 37 points in 23 games, which is by far his best season since 2012-2013.

He is 31 years old, will likely be 32 as soon as the next season starts. What is he going to fetch for his next contract? What teams might be interested?
I see him get paid north of 7 million per which Avs won't be able to afford. Avs window is closing with some of their players that will get paid in this next couple of years. One is Kadri, the other is Toews and Byram .

He's getting paid for sure. If he ends the year with 30+ goals and 80+ points he will have 45 million dollar offers. If he continues the pace and ends up with 100 points? Who the hell knows...

He's coming to Montreal with a home discount. Book it.

He was and may still be a huge Habs fan and didn't make it a secret when he was interviewed a while back. Our very own cut rate Taveras.....with more facial hair.

I also believe he could potentially sign in Montreal. 7x7 is what I think he signs for if he goes to Montreal.

I think he wants to win

I would want to play for the team I grew idolizing up more then a "chance" at a cup, but I doubt if the Habs will want to pay him more then 5x5. Others will pay FAR more then that.

Let's see if he is really a die hard Habs fan....

I think the entire point of playing is to win a cup one day, hopefully he does it this year. Not many players prioritize childhood teams over the cup.

I'd say $7.5m x 5 years -- simply because teams know that's what he's worth today, have sight towards a cap increase, and being 32, you can be reasonably confident about the first ~3 years of the deal.

Where? a tougher question. As a Leafs fan, it scares me to say this, but I could see Boston being a realistic contender to replace Krejci.

Ottawa has wanted him for years they tried to move up and draft him I expect them to pursue him hard.

This is the first season Kadri has been worth $7.5 mil, and he still has to keep it up. Not disagreeing that's how much he'll get, but he chose an amazing time to have a career year.

Win the Cup and then mess up a competitors cap situation is all I ask of Kadri.
