Kadri is a UFA at the end of the year and is currently on an absolute heater of a season and hasn't really slowed down at all. He has 37 points in 23 games, which is by far his best season since 2012-2013.

He is 31 years old, will likely be 32 as soon as the next season starts. What is he going to fetch for his next contract? What teams might be interested?

Based on the silly amount of money thrown around in free agency probably 8 million x 5 years for a total of 40 million but closer to 6.5 or 7 over 4 would be more ideal for a team.

Danault last year got 5.5x6, and I think everyone agrees Kadri is a better center. The last comparable I could really find was Duchene a few years ago who got the 8x7, but he was younger, and signed before COVID messed with everything.

I'd think 7.5/8 x 5 years is reasonable. Could be too long, but that's how it always goes with any contract.

If Kadri test market he probably have a 5 year contract @ 7.5M per year.
At this amount Colorado will need to find another #2 Center

Whatever the amount is Avs will lose him for basically nothing (maybe trade rights away before free agency starts). They simply can't afford to trade him during the seaon and can't afford him long term. I like Kadri and he's having a fantastic year, but I'd be worried if my team offered up 5 years at over 7.5 or higher.

I predict he lands in Pittsburgh. There’s the burke connection, malkin is in his last year and off the books next year. Malkin is always injured and if Pitt 1 and done again, I think it might be time to say good bye to geno.

something like 5 yr 7.5 mil. Kadri has shown he doesn’t go for every last drop of money like some maple leafs I know.

If he hits UFA, whoever signs him will regret it by year 3-4. He will get 7 years from someone and it will be too much money. Then he will get suspended in the playoffs again and make it useless to have him.

Teams that may need a top-6 center next offseason (alphabetically):
Arizona
Boston
Buffalo
Colorado
Columbus
Detroit
Minnesota
New York Rangers
Ottawa

That's off the top of my head. From there we can start the process of elimination on who a) will have the money for him, and b) current state of team warrants signing him

I think 7-7.5 x 5 is likely

You don’t know any Maple Leafs, and from the sounds of things you have no idea who Kadri is either.:dunno:

He never wanted to leave Toronto, this is why he left money on the table, you think he’s prepared to do the same again, at his age? on the back of a career year? with his personality? and for a market that means nothing to him?

Best of luck with that.
