You guys realize that kadri has been a top 15 scoring center over the last two years, at age 22 & 23, right?

How is that a 2nd line center?

He actually has the 29th most post in the NHL since the beginning of last season, which is three less points than Seguin in the same number of games. He's also 37th in goals.

That's pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

So lets compare Nazem Kadri and the player which this board is/was soo in love over, Brayden Schenn

Nazem kadri
GP 151
Goals 40
Assists 61
Points 101
PPG: 0.67
GPG: 0.26
APG: 0.40 (rounding issue)

Brayden schenn
GP 165
Goals 34
Assists 43
Points 77
PPG: 0.47
GPG: 0.21
APG: 0.26

In conclusion.
Kadri has 6 more goals, Astonishing 18 more assists, and amazing 24 more points than B.Schenn in 14 less games played

Sometimes the hockey gods come through in mysterious ways.

Another solid game by Kadri with 3 Assists, and the first star of the game. When are people going to realize that he is for real? :yo:

Butt he isn't as good as Steen...yet.

We should trade him coz in a couple of years he will be better than Steen...:sarcasm:

It's not an entirely fair comparison as Schenn is almost a full year younger than Kadri (10.5 months), and receives less ice time.

Next year when he's roughly the same age Kadri is now if he gets similar ice time I think there's a good chance that Schenn puts up 60 points.

Glad we got Kadri instead though, his creativity is a notch above Brayden's and I think that's hard to find and can be game breaking. Schenn strikes me as more of a Bozak type who does a lot of little things well but relies more on synergy with his linemates to create offense, whereas Kadri can create chances out of nothing all by himself.

When you compare Kadri to other centers his age and with the amount of experience he has, Kadri is easily the best of the bunch. Stepan, Granlund, Coyle, Schenn, etc. Kadri is 1 step ahead of these guys and probably on par with Stepan.

Talk about splitting hairs. Kadri averages 1:40 more ice time per game than Schenn but Schenn has played 3 more games this season so the difference in ice time is less than a minute and the age difference is less than a year, sheesh. .

Last season the difference in ice time was 30 seconds per game.

Kadri is not as good as his hot streaks, just as he's not as bad as his cold streaks. People getting carried away about how good he is after a string of good games and some highlight moves are not so different from the people who get carried away about how bad a player is during a cold streak.

Reminds me of how up and down this board was about Kessel in his first 3 seasons here.

People get carried away by his potential because of last year, his October and January of this year and where he was picked in the draft. Usually when someone is picked 7th overall, they tend to have great potential.

Which is fine. However, if I am running a team, I want my center to be a solid 2 way center or in the rare case, a combination of elite offence and a bit weaker defense or elite defense and a bit weaker offence. The only player that fits the latter category is Patrice Bergeron

M.Richards, Krejci

Another good game for Mr Kadri, keeping it simple.

Was concerned after that defensive gaff on Bjugstad's goal, but he redeemed himself after. Doing ok in the faceoff dept again, but those Offensive Zone FO's have to get better; he's just not good enough against the other team's defensive centres in the O Zone. Once he gets better at that, the puck possession will continue to come and secondary scoring will not be a question.

Hoping he's finally turned the corner.

Kulemin has been an absolute catalyst, and his workhorse, defense first play is exactly what's needed for a couple of guys like Lupul and Kadri. Coach has to get a little credit there.

Sadly, I think Nonis really digs Mason Raymond; I'd hate to see Kulemin sacrificed to re sign Raymond.

Not sure I can call the Bjug goal a "gaff" , by the looks of it, he simple got out muscled.

And did kessel turn out to be more like his hot streaks or cold streaks?

He turned out to be somewhere in between, just like every player not named Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin or Stamkos. Those are the only players who are so good they essentially don't have cold streaks.

Yes, gaff probably wasn't the right word, my apologies He just simply isn't as strong as Bjugstad, physically or skating wise. Now THAT's a potential Top Line Centre; Bjugstad will be a beast.

Ovie doesn't have cold streaks? Remember the start of last season? Actually, Ovechkin is the perfect example of a guy who scores a ton of goals, puts up big offensive numbers, and what does he have to show for it? He just simply doesn't care about playing a more responsible 2 way game; not in his make up. He will always be playing the other team's best players, and just doesn't want to play defensively; must be infuriating for a coach to have a player with immense skill and talent, who just doesn't put much stock in playing more responsibly without the puck.

Not really.

Remember the start of last season?

Sure, and looking at it he had 5 goals and 10 points in 16 games. During that period he went a whole 3 games without a goal or a point. So you can look at what's statistically probably the worst stretch of his career and it's still not really a cold streak.

In the 17th game he had 4 points.

Aside from the fact that he's always been a beast in the playoffs, I don't really see what this has to do with anything.

I noticed the commentators were giving him crap for not containing Bjugstad, but seriously the guy is like 6' 6" and 220lb, who can skate...other than Kadri taking a penalty not sure what else he could have done on that play!

Actually, that may have been the best time to take a penalty!
