He's always had consistency issues. What would you chalk that up to?

We all know Management wanted him to become more professional, this is why Carlyle said it would help Naz to learn from Bolland and how he approaches a game.

The biggest difference to me this year in Naz, is he is not as abrasive as last year. When he is playing nasty and on the edge, he is quite the force offensively.

We have only seen this sporadically. Not sure why, but I often wonder if he wanted to prove Ron Wilson wrong last year, and this is why he succeeded.

Unfortunately you can only go to the well so often, he pretty much proved Wilson wrong. Now he will have to find a new motivation.

He doesn't get a point in 1 game and now he has motivation issues?

Crosby went pointless in 3 straight. I guess he is a scrub.

which is why I say we need to trade kadri. leafs nation doesn't deserve a great young player like him

picked on for everything.

has to be amazing every time and PPG I guess:(:shakehead

I think you can expect some level of inconsistency considering Kadri's age and the fact that he's in the midst of going through his first full NHL regular season. A few inconsistent stretches happen to even the best offensive players in the NHL (Kane, Kessel, Tavares, Giroux, Backstrom, etc). Not sure if Nazem will ever get to that level, but he's producing like a 60+ point centreman right now and you gotta' be content with that.

I don't know what team jughead has been watching, but that tying goal that Kadri set up against Ottawa a few games ago was just about the "biggest" goal this team has scored all season.

Stop being so reasonable

kadri about 51% on draws in last 21 games.

getting better at them. if he can keep increasing that to the 53 or 54% range, he will be fine, but right now he is good at 51%

No. He must reach 60%. Also he must score 3 pts every single game, while earning Selke nominations. Oh and he needs to transform himself into a white guy too while he's at it. Then everyone will be happy.

The stupidity from posters in this thread is funny and sad....news flash he is our best center....he is a very good player who is still learning his craft.

He has done everything asked of him and still it seems that it is not enough for some. He is a player who is becoming a leader before our eyes and some who lack vision can not see it....its ok...you will see it. He was a defensive force against Vancouver and people who know the game know this to be true. Carlyle knows this and played him as such. He was a key component to our W and for me that is what I want from all of the Leaf players.

Solid post.

you missed one thing, he should also not be confident anymore, cause if he is, it equals having attitude issues.

oh and trade him Brayden Schenn

15 points in 12 games yet people still knock the kid down, ridiculous :loony::huh:

have u noticed, how no one mentions his faceoffs despite being much better at them now?

heck it was all over here when he was struggling at them

coincidence?

NO FREAKING WAY!

There's still room for improvement though. Am I right? He has come a long way from being invisible on the top line to getting suspended when the team had two centers injured.

You had to admit that there was plenty of cause for concern.

The main board features a Kadri,Franson,Clarkson,Holland,Kulemin thread but surprisingly no Lupul thread?
Kadri = 23
Lupul = 30
Complaints about Kadri: me 1st attitude,inconsistent,defensive play,faceoffs.
Lupul: doesn't take faceoffs.

Kadri isn't a first line center, unless you expected him to play like a first line center there was no need to be concerned.

Also Jughead, no one argues against your opinion because you have an irrational opinion. Your setting up these stupid standards specifically for Kadri. You don't share your opinion on any other leaf players. If your going to be a hater, then don't cry when you get hated on.

Fans of Toronto sports teams are optimistic intially. Then the second loafty expectations are not met for 5 games, the player is worth nothing. But if the player meets expectations for 5 games a statue is about to be erected in this players honour. When the sports teams begin to show that they are worth their weight in salt, maybe expectations will be more tempered.

No I don't see Kadri as being a NHL #1, but I do expect him to be average on the top line.

I don't want to rip him here. He's doing fine. He's now playing to his potential.

Leaf fans should be happy

LOL. Have you ever watched a game of hockey? You should try it sometime. It's fun.

Kadri is a young man in his second full year in the NHL. He's just learning how to play against the very best out there.

And in 155 career NHL games, he has 104 points already, and is a +5 over that span. THAT'S not "consistent" enough for ya?

There should be a quiz you have to pass before you're allowed to post.

Considering this is his first real NHL season (as opposed to ~20 game stints and a lock-out shortened 48 game season)... I'm pretty happy with the way he's been playing.

Lupul is the one who disappoints on the 2nd line IMO. Dude has to get it going, he's a far better player than we've seen so far this year.

Hahah I actually laughed out loud at this because I feel theres a lot of truth to it. Some people are just never content with a player. He's doing just fine as a 23 year old center in the NHL.

I think the Olympic Break will help Joffrey Lupul. Has hasn't been terrible, by any means, but prior to this season he had played exactly 82 games (spread over 2 seasons) and looked absolutely incredible posting 36G-85pts +10. This season he's been pacing at an underwhelming 27G-54pts over an 82GP schedule.

Knowing Lupul, he may be nursing an injury or he might just not have his head fully in the game.. A few weeks off should help in both cases and I hope we comes out FLYING when we get back from break!

Look at DD and Lars Eller in Montreal and you will feel much better about Nazem Kadri.
