From Rico Fata to Benoit Hogue eh? I dare say the kid is winning you over.

Its a step, not a big one, but it's something. If he ever wins another faceoff I might be tempted to bump him up even further to a Darby Hendrickson or even Mike Eastwood level.

You do know he is getting better at them
Right?

Aside from last game

It's still a big difference from when you said that Naz was only good in juniors because of Jared Knight. Don't worry though...I'm not taking the schtick seriously.

Why don't you like the guy? Does it have anything to do with the Junior team he played for?

For those who think Kadri's development is done:

First 155 regular season games in the NHL:

Player ---- G -- A -- Pts

Kadri ---- 41 - 63 - 104
Okposo -- 39 - 57 - 96

Hopefully Kadri gets stronger with time. His skill is unmatched when it comes to Cs on the leafs.

He just needs to get lower body strength to maintain posession since he likes to carry the puck and is a playmaker.

I have no doubt within 2 years Kadri will be elite if he gets stronger

Not really, or I'd probably hate Dave Bolland for no apparent reason, but I think he's great. I don't like Kadri because he's a player I've been watching since he first set foot in the OHL, and I never liked what I saw. It's true, when he was with London it was easy to hate him for falling down and crying to the refs all the time, and now I'm not exactly thrilled to have that type of Montreal Canadien style tactic being used by a player on my team. Stay on your feet man, don't be flopping around like a tuna every time another player looks at you funny. I'm also not a fan of his self confidence. Everyone says how the great ones need to think they are great in order to be great, but in Kadri's case it ends up resulting in him taking games at a time off whenever he does have a good performance. He thinks he's great so he thinks that means he doesn't have to work hard every shift because the (non-existent) Kadri magic will do all the work for him. You could see it happen last year, when he scored the hatty against NY, got smooched by Cherry and then completely disappeared until the last game of the Boston series. He has always been a player who felt his talent was good enough by itself, and that's not to his benefit or the Leafs. I can accept that he's a contributing member of this years so far successful Leaf team because he does show up once and a while to contribute. However I have huge issues with him being spoken of as "one of our top offensive players" or as some sort of future cornerstone of our franchise. That is not Nazem Kadri any more than the inconsistent but talented Mikail Grabovski was, or Clark Macarthur for that matter. When we need a big goal, it has never been and will never be Kadri who helps create it, but he'll be the guy to pot the empty netter or extend the 4 goal lead any time. He's a secondary scoring center with all kinds of holes in his game (faceoffs, turnovers, consistency of effort) who doesn't deserve to be the cult hero in Toronto that he has become for some damn reason. I guess we're just really desperate to have a home grown star that we'll pretend any home grown NHL player is one.

oh a jughead post, skip when u see that stupid logo

As opposed to one of those legendary Aplayaz2000 posts that contribute exactly nothing to the thread or topic at hand. Yeah that's some riveting reading right there buddy. :shakehead

The funniest thing is jughead hides when Kadri starts tearing it up, but when Kadri has 1 or 2 bad games you will see his posts flooding Kadri discussions. Kinda sad

What high school did you go to? St. Mike's? Probably Forrester ....

Massey. But I'm not the topic here. It just seems that way because people are more concerned with bashing me than discussing my opinions. I'm sorry you don't agree with me, but you could at least pretend to refute some of my points rather than just trash me and my education. Come on, explain to me how Nazem actually is a top offensive player and cornerstone for the Leafs. I'd love to hear your opinions on the topic if you could cobble together more than just a weak sauce insult.

You from Windsor? Where exactly did you watch him when he was playing for Kitchener? I'm assuming a big sample size that first year of his as a rookie.

Did you watch him much in the year before he was drafted where he was an integral part of a team that won the OHL Championship and went to the Memorial Cup?

How about his draft year where he and Tavares almost upset an incredible Windsor team that won the Memorial Cup? Did he suck that year too?

My experience was he was always a clutch playoff performer during his OHL career and the stats seem to back that up.

Well, last year number 2 in scoring behind Kessel. This year number 3 in scoring behind JVR and Kessel.

And yes he is better than your boy Kassian. Don't be mad now.

Eh?

Doh, Doh, Doh...........let's bring up some more college players.

Your bias is astounding.

You say he falls down and whines to the refs. You might want to consider that he draws the most penalties of any player in the NHL. If he did it by diving or whining, refs would probably be keen to it. The truth is, he moves his feet and makes some nifty dekes that cause defenders to take penalties to stop him. It's a skill, and it's one that not many players possess.

He scores and sets-up important goals all the time. He's made some truly beautiful plays lately that led to big goals against Montreal, Tampa, and Ottawa. A couple of them will be among the nicest that any player makes all season. Saying he only extends big leads and scores empty netters is idiotic.

You don't think he's one of our top offensive players. You may want to look at point totals for our players over the last two seasons then. He undoubtedly is one of our top offensive players.

You don't think he deserves cult hero status. Well, he's a young, home-grown player, who has proven that he is very talented. He sounds like the ideal "fan favourite" on paper.

If you're going to hate him, at least come up with reasons that are actually true.

thank you +1

Come on, explain to me how Nazem actually is a top offensive player and cornerstone for the Leafs..

Easy enough.

He was second on the team in points last season, and third so far this season. Could move up to second by season's end. That's a top contributor for any team.

Cornerstone, because he's our best center. He does everything. If you can find a center for the team who can score more points, and play as physical, then by all means, bring them in.

Kadri has motivation issues. When he plays like he gives a ****, he's great. But when he doesn't, he can be invisible.

If he can't motivate himself, I dunno who can.

Hmm attitude issues. And now motivation issues. What is next?

Are u talking about his time on first line? He wasnt ready and u would see that he was only one doing something. Jvr and kessel not doing anything. Thats on his wingers
Not kadri

He doesn't get a point in 1 game and now he has motivation issues?

Crosby went pointless in 3 straight. I guess he is a scrub.
