People who want to give up on a 23 year old on pace for 60 points in his first NHL full season are crazy.

Apparently Kadri has peaked as niche player at the age of 23. Just like how Kessel and Seguin peaked and were traded or when JVR was dumped for Schenn or Turris traded for spare parts.

The same morons limiting Kadri's upside are the very same people calling into Leafs Talk a few years ago ripping Kessel. Calling him "one dimensional", "soft", ripping Burke for the trade and wanting him shipped out. It's amazing how these same people never learn and how reactionary sports fans are in general.

Yeah Kadri has peaked at 23, bet the fans saying that are also pumpd about our new 24 year old prospect...

But he has an ego and has bad attitude

Some people call it swagger, some call it him being arrogant.

As long as he'll help our team win, i don't care about his attitude.

Btw, i think this attitude problem thing is media fabricated. Kadri is fine and i want him to have confidence in himself and his abilities.

Its 100% myth.

I think it's mostly media fabricated but there is a truth to it.

But the reality is: Guys like Kadri and Subban would not have even made it to the OHL had they not had incredible confidence in themselves.

People like to run away from the subtle racism in the sport, but if you're coloured and NOT a grinder, you have to justify your existence on line1 and PP1 every day.

The only way you can survive that pressure is to not let anything affect your confidence. That's also why Kadri is the perfect player for the Toronto market.

The bolded part, ummm what?

If there is any real tangible bias left out there, I would argue it falls into the (big/small player) ballpark.

It's true though. Kadri, from the day he was drafted, received a lot of **** from everyone without any real justification. With other prospects people are patient and salivate over potential and talent, while with Nazem if he slumps there are immediately talks about attitude, trading him, how Carlyle hates him even though they actually have a great relationship, etc. The media puts in extra effort when it's about Kadri.

Since I'm not on the team I have no idea about this attitude claim. All I know is some guys need to play with attitude or swag or whatever to be successful. If Kadri has to be a jerk to play his best then be the biggest jerk you can be. Be the biggest pain in the butt. Works for Gallagher and Marchand. They need to play this way or their game suffers.

I dont know if they have a great relationship, but its definitely a solid working relationship.

As we saw in 24/7, Carlyle likes to call out Kadri in scrums in stuff e.g "Nazzie I like red wine if your getting me anything, ok?" No way in hell he says that to firstly, a guy he dislikes, and second a guy he thinks cant take it.

You gotta be damn positive that Carlyle spoke at length with Dallas Eakins about kadri at some point because his approach to dealing with him is exactly the same. He will call him out one night, then praise him the next without media prompting. And from day 1, like with Dallas, he has always acknowledged the kid has a special talent level. Dont think Wilson ever did that

I think he's gonna do well as a villain. You want him playing angry . There's a thread on the main board of players you hate, kadri is all over that piece. He's developing a reputation and i think it will serve him well.

Did you hear the interview with Kadri's dad?
He says he loves when his son is booed on other arenas because it shows respect for his skill. Tells his son that he has to play with an edge.
Thanks dad :) keep up the good advice.

Agree with all of this.

Without derailing this thread, I see the subtle racism in the sport all the time.

Hockey fans in general don't like to see player personalities evolve from the traditional cliche using boring personality guys. Even with white players like Roenick, anyone who is outspoken or goes against the regular cliches in their interview is portrayed as a deviant and a villain by the fans and media.

Frankly, I love it. I prefer the humble personality to the cocky one personally, but it is nice to see a diversity of personalities in the sport.

My favourite hockey quote ever. When Subban was called up in the playoffs vs Washington the interviewer asked him: "Are you nervous?"

Subban's reply: "Why would I be nervous? I've been playing this game my whole life" :yo:

This is why an idiot like Cherry needs to go already. His anti european antics can easy be translated to racism remarks.

Wrong. No it can't. You need to realize that not everything boils down to race. There are countless other issues that people like you throw out the window, and cry "OMG racist!!!"
