If we're using AHL production to judge, then Kadri is unquestionably a blue chipper who has earned a spot on the roster. He's producing at the same pace as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Brayden Schenn, Nino Niederreiter, Brett Connolly, Gustav Nyquist, and Mikael Granlund. And on a BETTER pace than Mika Zibanejad, Jacob Silfverberg, Sean Couturier, Charlie Coyle, Zach Kassian, Magnus Paajarvi, Jaden Schwartz, and Sven Baertschi.

I'm sure they need to see him at NHL camp however to make a proper assessment.

Not at all.

If we're using AHL points as an indicator of quality, then Keith Aucoin is a diamond in the rough.

I want him to succeed, but I'm really wondering if this is close to his last shot at the Leafs. If he doesn't hold a spot on the big club this year, then another club might be best for him.

I have no opinion on Kadri because I have never seen him play but I assume he is good because of where he was drafted. Has there ever been a more fan polarizing Leaf player than Kadri? From some of the posts I read on this board, I think not. Opinions vary from he will lead(whatever team) to the promised land or he may never even make it to the NHL. No grey area with this guy I guess!

How forgetful some fans are... 3 years ago Grabovski was seen as next to useless. Then he put it together the following season and suddenly he's our only legitimate top 6 center. Kadri has just as much skill as Grabovski and will likely be a 60~ point player in the NHL someday. Something like a Ribeiro type player.

3 years ago there was also little/no market for Grabovski.

That's not the case with Kadri - you could put him in a package next week and get a decent return

Dont get the part where the club doesnt want him to succeed.

Why would Burke, Nonis, etc want him to fail when they drafted him, and have constantly raved about his offensive gifts?

Does anything the Leafs do make sense to you?

I'm not saying the team doesn't want him to succeed. I am saying that the team has made life difficult for him. Commenting on his stature, his defensive play, his fitness, etc.

Just think about another organization - Detroit, or Edmonton, or Ottawa.

Would they treat Kadri the same way the Leafs treated Kadri? Absolutely not. The kid hasn't been protected in the same way a Gardiner or a Reilly or others have/will be.

A) Keith Aucoin is 34 years old.

B) Aucoin didn't start putting up points in the AHL until he was 25.

If Kadri is still playing full seasons in the AHL at 25, you can make this argument all day long.

If we're using age and experience as an indicator, then Keith Aucoin is a prehistoric philoceratops

I'd love to hear what the No poll voters have to say about this. Can these guys respond to this? Great analysis.

Antropov, Tlusty, Steen, Stajan.....pretty much all guys who are drafted in the first round get this treatment.

Very true about the protected Gardiner and Rielly comment. Naz seems to have his own confident/cocky swagger which seems to rub off the wrong way on management possibly. I love it. It will insure his success at the NHL level.

No I don't think so. But if he is a part of this team moving forward, they better start ****ing using him with the big club.

The point still remains, those numbers don't always translate when you get called up to the pros.

True, but the fact that he strolled into the AHL as a 20 year old and put up PPG numbers can't be ignored. It's not common for a 20 year old to adjust to pro hockey so quickly, and the majority that did went on to become pretty solid hockey players in the NHL.

"Ever since all that stuff happened, it's not like I was ever in bad shape, but I've been in the gym every day after practice- working on my lower body, my core- I've been writing down my meals and sending them to the strength and conditioning guy, just to make sure my calorie intake is proper, and my sugar intake is decreased. I've done about all I can do, I've bought into the system, I've done what I've been told, and now it's just time to put it all on the ice." - Kadri, in an interview today.

Sounds like he's ready to play. Let's see what the kid can do before we trade him.

Was just coming here to post that. Give the kid some games. He wants to help us. And really he can't make this team worse. Lol

He seems hungry to prove ppl he can play.

Kadri does have a future, I don't think it will be with Toronto.

lol this never gets old...

Like what?

Like remember that time he gave the finger to the camera? I'm sure the board is examining that footage frame by frame to determine if that fits their corporate image.

And I'm not even sure if that's sarcastic or not.

Great find.

If I'm a GM, I want guys who have something to prove. Let's not make a mistake of trading this guy before we see what he can do this year.
