If we're using AHL points as an indicator of quality, then Keith Aucoin is a diamond in the rough.
 
I want him to succeed, but I'm really wondering if this is close to his last shot at the Leafs. If he doesn't hold a spot on the big club this year, then another club might be best for him.
 
I have no opinion on Kadri because I have never seen him play but I assume he is good because of where he was drafted. Has there ever been a more fan polarizing Leaf player than Kadri? From some of the posts I read on this board, I think not. Opinions vary from he will lead(whatever team) to the promised land or he may never even make it to the NHL. No grey area with this guy I guess!

3 years ago there was also little/no market for Grabovski.

That's not the case with Kadri - you could put him in a package next week and get a decent return

Does anything the Leafs do make sense to you?

I'm not saying the team doesn't want him to succeed. I am saying that the team has made life difficult for him. Commenting on his stature, his defensive play, his fitness, etc.

Just think about another organization - Detroit, or Edmonton, or Ottawa.

Would they treat Kadri the same way the Leafs treated Kadri? Absolutely not. The kid hasn't been protected in the same way a Gardiner or a Reilly or others have/will be.

A) Keith Aucoin is 34 years old.

B) Aucoin didn't start putting up points in the AHL until he was 25.

If Kadri is still playing full seasons in the AHL at 25, you can make this argument all day long.

Antropov, Tlusty, Steen, Stajan.....pretty much all guys who are drafted in the first round get this treatment.

Very true about the protected Gardiner and Rielly comment. Naz seems to have his own confident/cocky swagger which seems to rub off the wrong way on management possibly. I love it. It will insure his success at the NHL level.
 
No I don't think so. But if he is a part of this team moving forward, they better start ****ing using him with the big club.

True, but the fact that he strolled into the AHL as a 20 year old and put up PPG numbers can't be ignored. It's not common for a 20 year old to adjust to pro hockey so quickly, and the majority that did went on to become pretty solid hockey players in the NHL.

Was just coming here to post that. Give the kid some games. He wants to help us. And really he can't make this team worse. Lol

He seems hungry to prove ppl he can play.
 
Kadri does have a future, I don't think it will be with Toronto.

Great find.

If I'm a GM, I want guys who have something to prove. Let's not make a mistake of trading this guy before we see what he can do this year.
