OT: Nats, Wiz, O's, Ravens, Terps, Navy, Gtown, Mystics, Golf, Summer 2024 (Paris Olympics 2024 as well)

Love that Beal is off the team but I can’t help but think that they botched the order. Why not trade KP and others first and then tell Beal that he can either help them get good value on a trade or he can play on a lottery team for the next four seasons? Or tell Beal that they’re burning it to the ground and he can help facilitate a fair trade or he can play the rest of his prime years on a team racing to the bottom. Trading Beal first allowed him to dictate the terms. Ted is a real boner for putting mandates on the team to compete last year which led to that abysmal contract, such awful self-awareness which led to terrible asset management. That said, they got KP for peanuts, rebuilt his value, and now get something substantial for him so not all bad.

Tyus Jones is really good. He can be flipped now or at the deadline. I wonder if CP3 is flipped or eventually just waived. The strategy here is clear though: every player they’ve acquired is an on expiring contract. Should make for a busy trade deadline for them as sellers. I think they’ve also acquired a few trade exemptions which could be useful.

Finally it feels like they’re taking an objective approach of who they are (a shitty, bloated team whose ceiling is competing for the play-in) and taking steps to correct it (sell everyone and start over from scratch). It’s going to suck for a few years but I’d rather suck on purpose than suck trying to be good.

And hopefully Winger and company see the value of second round picks and don’t just punt on them for cash or future considerations.

Put this on a plaque in Ted's office. Drop the whole 35-47 bullshit, go 10-72 for the next few years. Hell, go 0-82. Just build back from the ground up

That being said, I still can't believe Boston got the two first round picks here

I'll always remember Porzingis being happy to wait by as I awkwardly tried to grab my sharpie out of my jacket. He could have just walked by but he patiently waited until I got my picture and sharpie ready for autographs. He was a good one here.

This sucks but it had to be done to clear up space and rebuild

Good story I have about Bradley Beal, I'm by the tunnel again for some regular season game I can't remember, I'm milling around and these players come off the court after warmups, so I turn to my right by the tunnel and Brad is just standing there smiling, biggest smile on his face, I never seen him up close before, and we've never met, and this guy to a complete stranger is beaming and smiling, says, "How are you doing" and I said good. I didnt' get him to sign anything because I didn't have anything for him to sign, but the fact that he would go through all that to talk to a complete stranger warmed my heart. It wasn't only that too. He stopped all the time to sign for kids before the game. Every interview after Wizards won he would start off with "First of all I want to thank my lord and savior", he was just a good guy to be around. Don't let the slap to the dumb gambling fan define his time here, overall he was a nice guy

Stuff floating around about possibly getting #19 with Poole? I dunno. If that 2030 pick doesn't convey, they traded Chris Paul for Poole's bloated contract and a 2nd. Can't trade picks beyond 7 years out.

Probably because Beal was fine just earning his $$ on a shit team either way.

Wow crazy…

I mean the Wiz are going to be finishing 2nd or 3rd worst and thus be drafting top 5 for quite a while, so how do any of these "pick swaps" help them at all? Feels like it would only help them if the Wiz miraculously made the playoffs and Suns also miraculously tanked like mad. What am I missing?

The 2030 pick could have some upside for the Wiz...

Come on, we'll all be dead by then :wally

How long until KD decides he want a change AGAIN, and the Sun sink?

I suppose the latter scenario could apply in 2030.

I thought this was all to clear the books for 2024 until the Poole add. Maybe they think he can increase his value as the main guy?
