and this is the thing about ted leonsis. they were "never" going to rebuild under ted with ernie and sheppard. ted wanted a mid team that would be in playoff contention or play in game. now that we've missed playoffs 2 years in a row ted got the message it's okay to tank. f***ing blowing it up.

Can't tell you how OK I would be with the Nationals getting Skenes at #2. Watched every inning he pitched tonight (not much else to do sports-wise for me).

Did find it hilarious LSU brought in a freshman that the announcers said was super confident who then promptly gives up a 2 run homer on his first pitch.

I got to watch a few innings. He looks good and sounds like hes a pretty good hitter as well. The NL has a DH now but but do we let him hit like Ohtani

Been saying this for years. They had something potentially special with Wall and Beal but injuries and Ernie ruined it. It’s time to stop throwing good money after bad, accept that the window with Beal has closed, and go scorched earth to try and rebuild as quickly as possible.

It’s not all that common to be shitty and to have a few really good trade assets but that’s where the Wiz find themselves at the moment.

Expiring contracts and scraps, I mean picks.

Wait, never mind, both players coming back have multiple years on their deal. Paul is getting paid 30 mil a year and the other guy 11 mil per year. Wow. Only hope appears to be trading Paul to another team for more picks and buying out the other guy.

Uncle Ted really screwed himself signing Beal to that max deal and giving him a no trade clause.

Neither one of the contracts is guaranteed after this year. They're literally completely free of the contracts, including Beal's, by next year.

That's mainly why it's weird. Apparently Beal's agent is the Suns CEO's son so...kind of fishy. The return was always going to be weak and this....certainly is.

But, yeah, Booker is already a better Beal. Will Booker play point? Will they dump Ayton to have depth? The NBA remains eventful at least.

Hopefully the next few drafts aren't awful.

I don’t necessarily think so. Booker played some PG before Chris Paul arrived. So, assuming he makes that switch, with Beal staying at the 2, that would probably work (with Gordon maybe sacrificing a bit, but leaning on his 3 pt shooting).

And KD has always been a pretty selfless player. That’s a lot of firepower that can score in a variety of ways - will be interesting to see.
 
Beal to the Suns just doesn't make sense. Both Booker or KD are better then him at basically any skill you think of. He doesn't actually cover any weaknesses they had, it's such a weird acquisition.
 
Who would have thought Rui got a better return then Beal. It sounds like we are trying to flip CP3 to a contender for we might get some more 2nds.

Yep this is my take. They gave Beal that contract, the ultimate player respect contract, and in the end facilitated him to a team that he wanted to go to.
