OT: Nats, Wiz, O's, Ravens, Terps, Navy, Gtown, Mystics, Golf, Summer 2024 (Paris Olympics 2024 as well)

I really spent the last 5 months hyping myself up because of a hefty Jason Day PGA Championship futures bet, watched him win last week over Scottie Scheffler, and now he's basically done after 18. I'm in the mud right now.
Yeah guys who haven’t won in 5 years often win two in a row… ;)

But yeah you should have seen his win last week as the kiss of death unfortunately.

Add to that they owe the Knicks a 1st in the next 3 years..brutal mismanagement from Ted. They need to sink a lot lower before they can meaningfully improve.

Kuzma should run unless he just cares about getting that bag.
It’s top “whatever” pick protected for a while. If they actually tank on the manner they should, that pick will never transfer.

I’m too lazy to look it up. But if they are always picking top 7 or so for a few years (it degrades from 14 to 8, if my memory serves me), it’s a nothing burger for the Knicks

protected top 14 in 2023
top 12 in 2024
top 10 in 2025
top 8 in 2026
else 2026 second round pick, 2027 second round pick)

Curry or Jokic in their primes, who you taking?
Curry but it’s close unless we’re talking fantasy basketball then I’m taking Jokic.

Curry changed the way modern offenses work. He changed perceptions about the point guard position. He’s the best three point shooter of all time and brought back the three and small ball to the NBA.

Jokic is a top 10 center all time in my opinion but I think few people have left a mark on the sport and made seismic changes to how it’s played like Curry has.

Definitely no debating Curry's impact on the game and how unstoppable he's been over the years. Plus he has the rings over Jokic, at least for now. Granted he had KD for two of those and another all time great shooter in Klay for the other two. Jokic has never had a teammate of that caliber

The way he plays as a center and gets his whole team involved is a thing of beauty, he can do it all and his bball IQ is off the charts. He's basically a 6'11 284lb. point guard. Take away curry, your team may essentially be f***ed. Take away jokic and he's just finding ways to dish it to his teammates while getting boards, setting screens and being much much better defensively.

If I were building a team around one player, both in their primes, it's gotta be Jokic

I love watching the pros get their asses handed to them by the course and conditions. Can’t wait for the ‘it’s not fair’ complaints…

This course has always been a beast. They know that, not sure what they are going to complain about. Weather is mild, rough is tough.

I love seeing these guys tested.

Hoping Scottie doesn't turn this into a snoozer.

Hovland's on a nice streak of putting himself in the hunt at majors. Easy to forget his most impressive win thus far in his career was a Fall Series event in Mexico two years ago.

So many names close…..any of these guys could back up 3-5 strokes in a day….

I think we passed on both in the draft :)
Even worse with Curry. We traded the 5th overall pick in the 2009 draft to Minnesota for Randy Foye and Mike Miller and Curry was selected with the 7th pick. Miller and Foye only played one season in Washington and they went 26-56 that season. Cool, cool.

Curry wouldn’t have stayed here anyway, or been close to the player he is now. Similar with giannis, we took otto porter jr (blech) 3rd overall in 2013 when giannis went at 15. But he needed years and the proper system to allow him to develop in the player he is today which washington wouldn’t have provided with how dysfunctional it is. Complete failure of an organization

I'd really, really love to see him coming down the stretch at a US Open setup with a chance to win, just to see how heated he can get. Need more guys like him without a filter.

Too bad that same mentality that makes him endearing is probably why he never competes at majors.

Guys like that need to really catch lightning in a bottle and have everything go their way in order to win. They can't gear it down and grind it out with a slow burn or even keel. It's all or nothing.

Some that start out as hotheads might later dial it back and find some success, others seem to fade away. Like Sabatini.

How about this guy Block?

“Easiest” weekend ever (compared to what he probably expected)….only PGA Pro to make the cut, knows he gets to be on the green for the trophy presentation on Sunday….gotta be sooooo loose. Not enough firepower to win though….fun story.

Pulling for Hovland, Koepka I guess….
