Tried his hand at a goalie goal with an empty net for the kings, but puck got blocked within 10 feet of him. Also looked like he got hurt late in the third, but turned out that he just lost a skate blade.

Really great night for him though. Best goalie performance on the Hawks in recent memory. The team played good, relative to their standards, tonight too. After that abysmal 1st period at least.

Knight's one performance tonight bumped his season long save percentage from .907 all the way up to .912. He's played 24 games this season.

That save percentage would have him tied with Markstrom, Ullmark, and Comrie for 11th best in the league this season (minimum 10 games played).

Really appreciate Florida giving us our future starter.

He can be good enough to be a second unit guy there and contribute once in a while. He just doesn’t really do anything much to create. Mostly makes easy passes and shoots it off the goalies pads. Does a pretty good job keeping the puck in most of the time.

Jones is a flawed defenseman. He was the day the Blackhawks traded for him in one of the worst trades of the last 10 years.

Not sure if anybody has brought it up, but he really cannot figure out how to gap up, which makes him catastrophic at defending the rush.

His decision making makes you want to pull your hair out at times.

He can skate well forwards but lacks lateral speed.

You give him heavy o-zone starts and put up with his determination to try and make shots through shin-pads, you'll get the most out of him.

There's no doubt he's a physical specimen. You'll never need to worry about him getting tired or even injured, and he can certainly handle himself along the boards.

You're welcome! I do wish Knight all the best - we will miss him and he's a gamer. So happy that he won his first game with you in such convincing fashion, and take care of him for us. And see if you can carry on our tradition of yelling "KNIGHT" during the anthem -that would be cool.

As a Blackhawks fan, I remember the same feeling. Felt like we could bring any flawed player into the system - Stalberg, Frolik, Oduya, Handzus, Rozival, Raanta, Darling - and our core and system would magically make studs out of them in their roles. It was a wonderful time and you should enjoy it for however long it lasts.

Eventually you hit a dud. I hope this isnt your dud, cause 5 more years is a long time when it comes to championship windows.

That's pretty much how it is with this core and Zito being able to identify undervalued players that could fit into the Panthers' formula of success. I don't think it'll last very long, maybe the next two seasons and then it becomes significantly more difficult to just insert new players to the system and they'll exceed expectations. By then the Panthers would need an exciting/revitalizing young player in their lineup but that's not probably going to happen with a depleted prospect pool and limited moveable assets.
