Was tough rooting for the Astros but I prefer Dusty over Harper any day of the week.
Agreed f*** the other nl east teams

That has what to do with drafting, player development, making trades, making coaching decisions, etc? Their top 10 pick looked completely lost in the preseason and was a DNP-CD for the season until he was just assigned to the G-league.

It’s wild you think signing superstars is the only way to build a team in the NBA. KD signed with Golden State after that team drafted and developed their own talent. Brooklyn signed a bunch of stars and they suck ass. LA won a fake bubble title and they’re also garbage. The Knicks haven’t been able to sign a marquee free agent in… a decade? More? Boston’s talent came through the draft — what superstar did they sign as a free agent?

Just enough with the excuses. Tommy deserves kudos for getting out of the Wall and Westbrook contracts but the rest of us tenure has been really uninspiring and now they’re literally in the worst position they could be in — bad enough to never have a chance of competing, not bad enough to draft at the top of the lottery. And their cap situation sucks. And all of this was completely predictable.
We can't do what gs did we would have to be very lucky.

Cards are stacked against you immediately as a mediocre team like dc.

So what if the Nets blow it up. KD wants out and Kyrie might bet out of the league soon.

KD does not have a NTC what would the Wiz need to offer to get him? I would pretty much trade anything we have to get KD
I haven't been a huge fan of this guy's off court demeanor the last few years. Cringy every time he opens his mouth.

This could be an interesting draw to bring him to the city though, but if he wants to win, why is he coming here honestly??

I don't like kd but if he ever becomes a wizard I'll bandwagon the f*** out of that team

Memphis drafted some solid picks in Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks. Guess that's enough for a title huh? It isn't. Because nobody wants to go there to complement them. So their ceiling is 2nd round. Kind of like the Wiz with John Wall and bradley Beal. Best they can do is win one playoff series but the loaded favorites will always win the 2nd round.

"Dallas beat Phoenix"

Yes, and how'd they do against GS

I'm not saying scouting and development isn't important, heck that's how GS discovered their talent. I'm saying it's very hard to do so and that's why only GSW, Lakers, and Boston and Cleveland compete every year in the last 10 years (and Cleveland only because of LeGM)

Are the Grizz contenders? Yes. Is losing in the second round better than signing a player to $50M with losing the play-in as the ceiling for a team? Also yes. The Grizzlies won 56 games last year. When was the last time the Wiz hit the 50-mark?

Your takes are wild man. According to you the only teams that should bother playing basketball are about 3-4 teams because they can just sign the best free agents. Not even worth arguing with you about it any more considering how stubborn you are about it. Every time I give you examples of how I think you’re wrong you say, “Well that’s a special occasion. And that’s a special occasion too.” If it doesn’t fit your narrative I guess it’s a special occasion.

The Raptors and Bucks have recent champs with out winning the draft lottery. Just saying...
Small potatoes. Look at Orlando, Minnesota, Washington, Sacramento, Atlanta, Charlotte, New Orleans, San Antonio without Parker / Gino / Duncan, Portland, Dallas, Indiana, Detroit...that's a lot of teams!

LOL
Orlando was the #1 team when they had Shaq and Penny. And did it again with Dwight
SA won more champs then any team since the Bulls
Detroit had one of the best teams in the east for a decade. And Wiz dumped 2 key players on that roster.
Dallas won a Champ and lots of peoples picks to win it all this year. And they got it from overseas drafting

Your retort to Orlando was that you brought up Shaq and Penny from last millenium. In modern time Orlando has been putrid (although they lucked into Banchero who had a solid game a few days back). And even if Banchero succeeds what makes you think Orlando would compete for titles anytime soon? Every single team I listed is rebuilding, is bad, or is a small market with a "2nd round ceiling".

You are implying that someone other than GSW / Boston / LA (yes even my Lakers) or maybe...fine Phoenix would win the title

I hope a team like Memphis or Dallas wins. I think you are under selling the teams that win despite the small market. Wiz could do it, Ted spends to the cap but just doesnt pick the right players

Was hopefully when Earnie got shown the door would mean that there would be some better drafting/player development but really hasn't shown that yet. Figure the law of averages they would hit on someone to exceed more than a rotation player.

Just leave it be. The Wiz play in the 9th largest sports market in the country and they’re the 7th largest market with all four teams. They’re ahead of cities like Boston, Miami, and Detroit. The Wiz are not a small market team and they don’t spend like a small market team but narratives are what’s important here.

I think Ted was hoping Sheppard would be MacLellan 2.0. Worked for the Caps, so why not for the Wiz? Well, despite the many early round exits, the Caps knew how to draft and develop players. The Wizards? Uh, yeah.

Technically we could offer him the exact same contract Sotto turned down
Players also want to play for winners, not this organization in turmoil. Sadly I wish it could happen

That said in a relevant MLB The Show 22 save game I signed Soto back to the Nats for 2 years
