Tiger Woods is possibly leading a movement that would create a circuit for elite players inside the PGA Tour — Golf Digest
ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND - JULY 14: Tiger Woods smiles on the 11th hole tee box during the first round of The 150th Open Championship on The Old Course at St Andrews on July 14, 2022 in St. Andrews, Scotland. Back in February, as Saudi-backed LIV Golf was on the verge of launching, PGA Tour...apple.news
This sounds more divisive…
Feels a bit like the Super League in soccer, only for individuals…..so the top 60 get big guaranteed money and the others get a paycheck loan…..seems fair.It sounds like he's trying to lure the top players back with more big money events, right? I skimmed.
Not nearly in the range of some of you guys are but picked the clubs back up after not playing for 8 years or so this summer. Was never any good in the past when I played at 20-25. Now 37 I’m all in as far as golf goes and addicted as hell bought some clubs back in late June and have been at it nonstop. Broke 90 today for the first time ever and was absolutely ecstatic with my 89
Well that’s a problem if you’re feeling rushed. That’s the absolute worst. I’m a big believer in ready golf. Only in matches do I dial that back some out of respect for the match integrity.I’m constantly thinking about that while playing. Probably playing to fast honesty as I’m always looking over my shoulder to make sure nobody is waiting. Probably why I shot my best round yesterday the course I play is nothing big but just a decent 9 hole course out here, yesterday morning pulled up at 815 am and was the only one on the course until at least 930.
It’s the ones that look for a ball for…..ever…..and ever…..and EVER…..when they lie 6 and have been getting dubs and trips all round.Well that’s a problem if you’re feeling rushed. Just know when to pickup IMO.
in general (not at you)…..
If you’re lying 7 and you’re 150 out on a par 5, you’re that guy.
double par at worst and move on and that should NOT be being invoked that often, or….you’re that guy.
Played at Potomac Shores recently. It was mainly in good shape albeit very wet which was strange because there hadn’t been rain for the day or two prior. Maybe they overwatered a dry course and the ground couldn’t absorb all of it. Probably 4-6 times I kicked my ball 10 yards or so to the side because if I would have hit it as it lie I would have done serious damage to the course that divot dirt wouldn’t have helped. Another weird thing about PS is that they have no turn so it’s a 9-mile course straight out. You need to commit to the full 18-hole, 4.5 hour trek. What courses are people playing? Anything decent is 30-50 minutes from my house other than East Potomac Blue, which is great for a weekday 9 or early AM 18, and for practice - but not playable on weekends.
So, in MD, I’ll do Northwest, Poolesville, Falls Road, PB Dye, Little Bennett (pretty but I always end up hating golf because of the goofy greens and punishing hole setups there), and Whiskey Creek and Hampshire Greens on occasion.
In VA, it’s mostly Stonewall and Bull Run, and sometimes Westfields. Several VA courses have fallen off my rotation. Some are overpriced and not kept up commensurate with price - Raspberry, Reston, Potomac Shores (though I haven’t played there for awhile). Some are under-maintained - Pleasant Valley, South Riding. And some are poorly maintained and horrible to drive to - Augustine. I like Algonkian and Herndon for weekday value rounds. I don’t know Twin Lakes but hear those courses are pretty good

Twin Lakes is solid.
Challedon in Mt Airy is a nice course as well but pretty inconvenient for those in the DC/NoVa area.
Is Waverly Woods worth the drive from NoVa? And has anyone played Swan Point lately. Used to love that course, but it's a haul and I hear that it's not being kept up and has serious drainage issues.
