Brazil v Argentina off to an auspicious start. Kickoff delayed as fans fight each other in the stands. Dozens and dozens of security staff and police involved.

Something really bad is going to happen when this match is over. You can just feel it that we might be lurching toward a tragedy of some kind. When Argentina walked off they should have stayed walked off.

Just came in to say its always the same BS in Brazil. They should not have their fans in the stands as punishment. I would post videos I saw maybe later. The Argentinean players had to come into the aid of their fans because the "security" were attacking them. This game should not be played Brazil are just fouling and Argentina dont want to be there. DISGRACEFUL worse than the last time they 'played' in Brazil much much worse.

So much diving and embellishment in this match, but Rodrigo De Paul took it to an exceptional level.

Every single contact he’s on the ground like he was hit in the face.

I’d love to see retroactive yellow or red cards issued for dives in the World Cup and qualifiers after video review.

Mexico survive a scare, but got some massive help from the officials to qualify for the Copa Money Grab next summer. They join USA, Panama and Jamaica as the CONCACAF representatives. Two more CONCACAF teams will qualify, single elimination matches in Texas in the March international window (Canada vs. T&T & Costa Rica vs. Honduras)

Copa America 2024 draw

A: Argentina, Peru, Chile, Canada/Trinidad & Tobago
B: Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Jamaica
C: USA, Uruguay, Panama, Bolivia
D: Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Costa Rica/Honduras

Argentina vs. CAN/T&T will be the opening match, Mexico got a tricky group but with games in Houston, LA and Glendale they will have a heavy home field advantage in all three games. USA got a manageable group but their QF matchup is brutal considering most people expected them to make a deep run in this tournament. Brazil's group is also tricky based on their current form, no guarantee they win that group either. Though I hate the knockout format they used, they did it to avoid a Brazil-Argentina or a Mexico-USA match before the final, you can very easily see a group stage rematch already in the semifinals

Courtouis out of the Belgium team for the Euros, a combo of his injury and conflict with Tedesco. As a Romanian fan it's great news.

We're not winning the thing anyway so Casteels should be a really good replacement, btw our goalie won't be the reason Romania can't beat us :D

Courtois once again being the petty, narcistic idiot he's been all along. His injury will be the official reason why he'll miss the EURO but everybody knows better. Dude gave an interview today, said he didn't want to talk about Tedesco and then proceeds to talk about him for most of the interview anyway. The guy's a big man but a very small human being.

Tomorrow is the 2025-26 UEFA Nations League draw and once again UEFA has made some tweaks to the tournament; now the top two in League A will advance to the quarterfinals (instead of Final Four in past editions) and the third place team will play a runner-up from League B in a two-leg playoff. The bottom team in League A relegates and top in League B promotes and same goes down the leagues. The Nations League final table will also be used for World Cup qualifying, with the four highest ranked teams who did not qualify automatically getting an automatic playoff spot

LEAGUE A
Pot 1: Spain, Croatia, Italy, Netherlands
Pot 2: Denmark, Portugal, Belgium, Hungary
Pot 3: Switzerland, Germany, Poland, France
Pot 4: Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Scotland

LEAGUE B
Pot 1: Austria, Czechia, England, Wales
Pot 2: Finland, Ukraine, Iceland, Norway
Pot 3: Slovenia, Republic of Ireland, Albania, Montenegro
Pot 4: Georgia, Greece, Türkiye, Kazakhstan

LEAGUE C
Pot 1: Romania, Sweden, Armenia, Luxembourg
Pot 2: Azerbaijan, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Faroe Islands
Pot 3: North Macedonia, Slovakia, Northern Ireland, Cyprus
Pot 4: Belarus, Lithuania/Gibraltar*, Estonia, Latvia

LEAGUE D
Pot 1: Lithuania/Gibraltar*, Moldova
Pot 2: Malta, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein

*Lithuania and Gibraltar are playing a two-leg playoff in March to determine their league status

UEFA Nations League draw, a lot of repeat/frequent matchups but some spicy rivalry games

A1: Croatia, Portugal, Poland, Scotland
A2: Italy, Belgium, France, Israel
A3: Netherlands, Hungary, Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina
Ad: Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Serbia

A2 is probably the toughest on paper with Israel being the whipping boys; we get Germany-Hungary for the 100th time, Serbia play Switzerland, again, the game was very heated in 2018, less so in 2022 but still some issues, though not sure how much longer Shaqiri/Xhaka will play for the Swiss after the Euros

B1: Czech Republic, Ukraine, Albania, Georgia
B2: England, Finland, Rep of Ireland, Greece
B3: Austria, Norway, Slovenia, Kazakhstan
B4: Wales, Iceland, Montenegro, Turkey

We have an England-Rep of Ireland matchup, but outside of that group where England really shouldn't be at this level, its pretty even stuff

C1: Sweden, Azerbaijan, Slovakia, Estonia
C2: Romania, Kosovo, Cyprus, Lithuania/Gibraltar
C3: Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Northern Ireland, Belarus
C4: Armenia, Faroe Islands, Macedonia, Latvia

Yep Sweden are all the way down in this league, and they pretty much got teams they played in the last Euro qualifying where they failed spectacularly. Unlike the Euro qualifiers, winning League C won't do much anyway in WCQ

D1: Gibraltar/Lithuania, San Marino, Liechtenstein
D2: Moldova, Malta, Andorra

Nothing much to say here, Moldova though were competitive in Euro qualifiers so should be heavy favorites to win this section

Should be a very interesting and difficult task to pick Argentina's Copa and u23 with 3 overagers Olympics squad given the huge amount of talent emerging notably in.midfield.

Mascherano should be removed from.his role. The players abilities got them through. Aimar, Placenta should coach the Olympics squad which should be in with a good chance of medalling.

The likes of Medina at Lens, Varela or Redondo in midfield and Soule or Garnacho will be interesting as whether they are in the CA or Olympic squads.

If Licha Martinez is fit I'd send Medina to Paris. Toss up between Soule and Garnacho though I favour Soule. Same between Redondo and Varela.

Ledesma or Gazzaniga as the Olympic goalkeeper. I'd also retain Almada and Echeverri for Paris given the depth in.midfield of the senior squad. And another good tournament would surely see Almada escape Atlanta.
