Then and there
There's that old guard that's causing the German downfall again... :sarcasm:

Muller's passing has been otherwise poor, though.

Weird formation by Germany, they really don't have a RB, Heindrichs playing as LB and Tah drifting wide into RB position at times, with Sule & Rudiger staying central.

And with injured Gungogan replaced by Gross, they continue as it was.

Great ball from Robertson

Less great touch on that bounce for Bellingham goal, who again showed knack of being at the right place at the right time, where goals are typically scored from.

Although I don't think Southgate's usage of him has been ideal so far in this match, but the Scots drop / collapse so deep when England had possession, so it was generally tough to make any great passing plays.

Then and there
Old Eurodisco with Baccara blasting out to start the 2nd half. England has decided to give Scotland a chance by bringing on Maguire.

Agreed Müller has squandered a few good openings now.

As for the formation it’s the Henrichs + 3 CBs that I suspected we might try…though it’s our 3 CBs who are most likely to zone out and do something idiotic

I think a lopsided back 4 would make more sense with Musiala and Wirtz starting behind Füllkrug….then Henrichs could provide more width opposite Sane, with Wirtz & Musiala operating more centrally than Leroy.

Hendricks combined well with Gnabry in the build-up for the goal.

Maybe they anticipated Mbappe being absent from the start and that's why the formation is what it is. Also Theo hasn't really made many forward runs on French left flank either.

Bellingham is an absolutely infuriating footballer. No f***ing chance have England produced someone that good.

Marcus Thuram is what would’ve happened had Süle stayed at FW. So physically gifted with good technical skills…but the brain just turns off sometimes…

I’d guess it was to match up with France’s FBs. Stick the extra CB on Theo’s side to give us more cover there and let Henrichs get forward on Pavard/Kounde’s side.

So glad that things started to click for Henrichs a year or two ago. He’ll never live up to his hype as a youth level 8…he was supposed to be better than Gundogan and Dahoud…but he’s become a quality two-way FB who can do a good job in either a more attacking or defensive role.

They knew they’d f*** him up, that’s why they had BVB teach him to senior-football :sarcasm:

I get that Kai may not play like this in London, but I’ll never understand why people complain about NT-Havertz. Kid fights, produces, and contributes to our buildup all over the pitch.

…and right on cue, he slides Sane in for the 2-0 with a perfectly weighted ball.

Aww, poor Leroy. Hope MAtS covers for him.

Sane scores, not sure why Maignan dove on to his left, when Sane had the ball on his left foot, which made it easy for him to put the ball past keeper.

Then immediately Sane makes a foul and Griezmann scores from the spot.

Nah, Saliba let that pass go through to boost Kai's confidence. Brilliant from William

I just don't understand why Maguire was the one to come on in the second half. This is a friendly, Southgate knows exactly what Maguire brings. I'm baffled why Tomori doesn't get more of a look.
