Can, Ginter, Werner, etc….after all this time trending downward this is still the best Germany has to offer? These same scrubs? Yet again looking lost and getting shredded by the oppositions counter attack while lacking enough finishing ability in their own attack. What a disaster.

Can is the only one of those who should start when we're at full strength and he's having the best season of his career :dunno:

Werner & Gnabry should be behind Musiala, Wirtz, Havertz, & Sane, with Timo behind Adeyemi, & Moukoko as well.

Ginter is our 4th choice CB and Kehrer 6th...for now, Bella Kotchap and Thiaw/Dardai could take those spots over the next year.

Wolf is 1st choice as an attacking RB atm, but Knauff or Baku could take that spot from him by next summer.

At full health we should be looking at something like this next summer:

Füllkrug
Musiala - Havertz - Wirtz
Can - Kimmich
Raum - Schlotterbeck - Süle - Wolf
ter Stegen

Moukoko
Sane - Adeyemi - Gnabry
Stach - Gundo/LeGo
Günter/Netz - Rüdiger - ABK - Baku/Knauff
Trapp

....though I'm curious to see how we'd look with something like:

Füllkrug/Moukoko
Sane/Adeyemi - Wirtz - Musiala - Havertz/Gnabry
Kimmich/Gundogan
Schlotterbeck - Süle/ABK - Rüdiger/ABK - Klostermann
ter Stegen

Guessing he had noticed the third belgian coming on the right and so was trying to predict whether the cross would come in to KdB or the far man, ending up getting caught in no man's land.

But sometimes you've just gotta tip your cap to the opponent, that was just a very well taken goal.
He pointed to a defender to take on of the belgian forwards which exposed the centre. If his intention was to cover the right he missed it by about 20 yards he made no effort in covering that space. He half sprint and then stops to cover the centre. He's is either too slow or had no interesting in playing defence. Neither is acceptable tbh.

I'll have to check a replay later :dunno:

Amazing first half, second half a bit too conservative and not much rhytm with all those subs of course. Still, not like Casteels had to be amazing either. Germany looked threatening but we should have put the game away by HT already.

Feels bittersweet seeing what this team can do with Tedesco after only 2 games, knowing Martinez for years had this talent sleepwalking on the pitch. Just a couple of months ago he had Witsel and Hazard playing over Onana and Trossard. Crazy

Yeah, tough to take too much from a March friendly -- as I'm sure you were missing plenty of starters too -- and our opening formation did not work at all...but you already look sooooo much fresher than you did under Martinez.

Tedesco is a good coach when he has the room behind him.

Germany's problem is that this type of "March friendly" is basically all we have until the opening day of the Euro. In fact, it's not even entirely clear how many of those there will be. Flick turned down the opportunity to play in a Euro qualifier group outside the competition, so random friendlies will be all there is the next 15 months or so. They've already said they want to prioritize player workload reduction, which to me sounds like code for there not being a lot of these friendlies either. It's okay though because clearly the team is in good enough shape already that you don't need time and match practice to find the best lineup and create some chemistry.

No way, there's some important and productive tactical experimenting on display here. Who would have thought leaving your cbs on an island due to two attacking full backs and center mids that don't play defense wouldn't work at this level? It totally works for Bayern. Next game he should do the same but instead of actual fullbacks, use center backs out wide instead, and then try not playing a true striker and see if it gets better.

We don't know what kind of minutes restrictions he had to agree to with the clubs. Somehow I doubt BVB would've been thrilled for Can to play 180 minutes right before their big match with FCB...especially when he was already going to be playing Wolf for 170 minutes...ya know?

I do wish we had more options in that spot than a resurgent Can and Stach (when he's fit); but can't do much about that but wait & hope that Martel / Breithaupt / Aseko / di Benedetto hit their potential.

Also hard to judge how much of that was to prove to Goretzka that he needed to be a good boy & come off the bench if he wasn't going to change his game and suddenly become a holding player for the first time in his life.

What may seem obvious to us isn't always obvious to players who believe they can do anything :dunno:

Somewhere between these two posts there's a happy medium where the German squad actually lies.
Are you saying we weren't awful for the first 30min? Or that playing some combination of Musiala, Havertz, Sane, Adeyemi, Moukoko, a fully-healthy Wirtz, Schlotterbeck, Süle, & Rüdiger over Werner, F.Nmecha, Keher, & Ginter wouldn't make a difference?

Curious which part of that post you think I'm being unreasonable in.

That's a fair point, but this was a march friendly before the FCB-BVB clash and a number of our top players were banged up.

So I agree with your larger point...if they're not planning to make up for those matches with extra practice time...but there is only so much we can take from a match that featured a maximum of 5 outfield players who would be starters for us at full health, 1 of them only lasting 30 min.

Would I have liked to have seen Thiaw instead of Kehrer and maybe started Schade over Werner? Yes, but those kids are going back to the U21s for the euros and there will be plenty of time for them next cycle.

That's the latest rumor. I wouldn't mind...as long as someone else saves Kai lol...Mount would do great playing off of Musiala, but they could do better with their money.
LFC recruitment is so FUBAR. They need to be saved from themselves/whatever the hell they are trying to do. It’s a mess. They have no idea why they are bad.

I guarantee you Klopp wants Mount because he thinks he is Adam Lallana and no one is telling them they can sign a third choice keeper for a homegrown spot
