No way, there's some important and productive tactical experimenting on display here. Who would have thought leaving your cbs on an island due to two attacking full backs and center mids that don't play defense wouldn't work at this level? It totally works for Bayern. Next game he should do the same but instead of actual fullbacks, use center backs out wide instead, and then try not playing a true striker and see if it gets better.
We don't know what kind of minutes restrictions he had to agree to with the clubs. Somehow I doubt BVB would've been thrilled for Can to play 180 minutes right before their big match with FCB...especially when he was already going to be playing Wolf for 170 minutes...ya know?
I do wish we had more options in that spot than a resurgent Can and Stach (when he's fit); but can't do much about that but wait & hope that Martel / Breithaupt / Aseko / di Benedetto hit their potential.
Also hard to judge how much of that was to prove to Goretzka that he needed to be a good boy & come off the bench if he wasn't going to change his game and suddenly become a holding player for the first time in his life.
What may seem obvious to us isn't always obvious to players who believe they can do anything
Somewhere between these two posts there's a happy medium where the German squad actually lies.
Are you saying we weren't awful for the first 30min? Or that playing some combination of Musiala, Havertz, Sane, Adeyemi, Moukoko, a fully-healthy Wirtz, Schlotterbeck, Süle, & Rüdiger over Werner, F.Nmecha, Keher, & Ginter wouldn't make a difference?
Curious which part of that post you think I'm being unreasonable in.
