Why does Pavard start so much for Bayern if he sucks?
They have no one else at right back. I don't think he sucks in either position, but I'd rather have him in the center of my defense. Thing is Bayern already have 2 center backs that are better than him there.

Injuries, Süle having a couple bad seasons before Nagelsmann got him back on track, and Bayern having cheaped out on Baku because they have so much firepower that they haven't needed a good RB.

...although they should still get one unless they're switching to the 3-2-4-1 permanently & will no longer be using FBs/WBs.

ter Stegen has asked not be nominated for the NL matches in June, so he can rest & recuperate from the club season.

Seems like a fair request. My guess is a lot of players will follow suit.
I think a big part of it is Neuer still being around. Though I'm sure MAtS could use a break, I suspect that he wouldn't be making this request if he was the starter.

But it is what it is, we're stuck with the corpse of Manuel Neuer through Qatar.

Flick has announced his roster for the NL matches with England, Italy, & Hungary.

Neuer
Trapp
Baumann

Süle
Schlotterbeck
Kehrer
Klostermann
Rüdiger
Tah

Raum
Hofmann (also provides cover at the 8 & winger)
Henrichs

Kimmich
Goretzka
Gundogan
Stach

Sane
Gnabry
Havertz
Musiala
Adeyemi
Müller
Werner
Nmecha
Reus
Brandt

Really happy that Stach seems to have won Flick’s trust as the primary Kimmich backup. He’s not on the same level & one of the higher ceiling’d kids will need to surpass him whenever the free thinker is too old, but I like Stach a lot as a backup 6 for us. He was great at the u21s, and played key roles for both Fürth & Mainz over the past two seasons.

Also still curious if Klostermann will be able to take Kehrer’s spot next to Süle & Schlotterbeck. Although Kehrer’s been great for Flick & is a nice complement to the BVB CBs, I just rate the Leipzig man more…and his superior speed would be nice.

Henrichs is really the only major disappointment I have with that roster…other than Neuer not yet having passed MAtS the reins. Despite having such a cool first name, Henrichs has grown into a spectacularly mediocre FB after having been a breathtaking 8 at the youth level.

If Gosens, Günter, & Baku are unavailable, I get not wanting to bring along a kid like Netz, Aydin, John, etc. who could get more use out of playing with the u21s…but Henrichs is just so blah, and unlike Brandt, he doesn’t supplement that with moments of genius.

I feel for Konaté. Amazing season, undefeated this year and possibly a starter for the CL final but still ignored by his national team.

To be fair I could say the same about Trent Alexander Arnold but it's insane how unbalanced (compared to other position) is the england NT at the right back position!

Great pick up for a side that needs an influx of new talent pre World Cup. The added creativity and pace down the right will be much appreciated.

Sancho really regretting his decision. Doesn’t make the England squad anymore and no UCL. That extra money must be nice though.
