Bare minimum of 37-17-1 to finish the season with a possibility at a playoff spot. Why is Brunette still acting like there's a chance at winning something and pushing the vets instead of transition to a developmental approach? And, why is Trotz letting him?
Since a tomato is technically a fruit, why isn't ketchup considered a smoothie?

This seems impossible.

You look at the roster, and you feel that the Preds can make a run and do it.

Then you look at the raw data, and it looks impossible.

There in lies the issue. Last season we were already above .500 before we made the run, this season we need a run just to get back to the point where we then need to make a run. It's the reason there is no way in heck Trotz can actually believe this team can still make the playoffs.

Oddly enough, they might still have a chance with a coach that would utilize the roster more effectively. Or, a new coach wouldn't make a difference, it's too bad they've waited so long to find out.

Especially when you factor in RoRs injury. I know he wasnt having a great season but Bruno is gonna try and cram stamkos as 1C even though he hasnt done anything 5v5 all season.
I will say this, while they didn’t score the other night, 91’s speed seemed to open up the ice and create more chances. That was mildly encouraging.

Asking Stamkos to be the playmaker for Forsberg sounds like you are removing one of the primary scorers from the lineup.

On the other hand, it doesn't really matter. Maybe we can generate more hits instead.

Youll end up with the same thing the 2nd line has had ... two 40G scorers with noone pulling the trigger because everyone thinks the other guy has the better shot. We should have a 40G scorer on each line with complimentary players and setup guys

Yep. Unless he is even more out of touch than I already believe he is, Trotz knows that this team is not making the playoffs. We should realize that as well if someone hasn't already. And even if by some miracle this team goes on an even bigger run than last year, is it really going to help this org in the long run to sneak into the last playoff spot, get bounced in the 1st round, and end up with another low 1st rounder?
I am ready to see if they can actually get a top 5 pick and see if they can draft someone who can be an impact offensive player for once. And yes I completely understand that their chances of screwing up said impact player is sky high unfortunately.

Yeah, gotta imagine the writing is on the wall for Pärssinen.
Surely Trotz isn't gonna do it again after seeing the other two. If he hasn't learned a lesson yet then all the hyperbolic jokes we've been making aren't going to be "jokes" at all and will be an unfortunate reality that is going to last for years to come.

At the moment I'm not convinced Parssinen would succeed elsewhere the way others have. I have no desire to belabor that point though because at the end of the day I agree they should give him (and other youth) the opportunity to get real impactful minutes and get a better evaluation.

TBH I'm not sure he's really been allowed to settle into a role to even know if he could. Fabbro, Tomasino, and Tolvanen at least had stints or continuous play so you had a decent idea of what they had.
