I don't understand the support (albeit weak) for Barry Trotz. He is totally responsible for the makeup of this team, coaching staff and waiver/trade decisions! Whatever happen to "the buck stops here" at the top philosophy?
Im slightly more lenient on Trotz because this lineup shouldnt suck THIS much. Then again Trotz selected the coach and is just letting him do whatever he wants no matter how asinine.

Do this... but also don't mix it up in mid-game (or at puck drop whichever). Actually go ahead and give Svech and Parsssinen the 16-20 mins the #1/2C would normally get. Don't dick around with having other guys take faceoffs or whatever. Just deploy them straight up as our centers. The season is lost already, we need to see what these players can do.
100%. Let it ride and give the players the appropriate time on ice. After RoR is healthy, we can reevaluate and figure out where he fits in.

We arent making the playoffs. Shift towards next year and start training the future.

Don't get me wrong, I was fine with the three acquistions at the time. What I wasn't fine with was the term of all, the price paid for all, the NMC, the committing to Saro's, the handling of Askarov and other first round picks, etc. Add to that the dumping of legitimate NHL potential with little to no return. I personally was willing to swallow a mediocre season watching if our youngsters would develop and if they didn't we would have had plenty of draft capitol and cash for free agency. What I don't like is the feeling that Trotz has done permanent damage to the future of this franchise, and I can't help thinking his decisions were ego based trying to show what a great GM he has become out of the gate.

So, what do Blankenburg and Wilsby bring to the table that Fabbro could not? Not only Trotz hurt the NHL depth of this organization he also took out two top defensemen from Milwaukee as well..
Fabbro was a good partner for Josi. He showed that many times. Org had decided they wanted something different. Like Carrier and Lauzon for some reason.

Carrier/Lauzon - 1G/7A 27/22games -13/-4
Fabbro - 3G/3A 11games +14

Great player evaluation!

I think part of that is mostly driven by the fact the only ones that can fire Trotz are the owners, and they aren't going to do that, at least not yet anyways.
Yeah, not gonna happen. The Preds owners are not that type of ship. Now when the new owner arrives, he probably will make or demand some changes.

As of this morning we have:
  • The longest active losing streak at six games
  • The 2nd worst goal differential in the league
  • The fewest goals-for per game, and the fewest total goals for
  • The fewest wins, despite having multiple games in hand over most teams
:baghead:
You are correct!

And not to mention:
Shut out for the 5th time in 27 games.
2 or fewer goals for the 18th time.

So lets waive/trade our young players away.
Fabbro - 3G/3A 11Games +14
Tomasino - 2G/1A 4Games +0
Afanasyev - 3G/6A 18Games +6 (Yes in the KHL)

And current young players being pressboxed or stuck in the grinder role for scrubs like Smith, McCarron, Jank and yes Sissons with his 2goals and 2 points in 26 games.

Willie said out issue is a lack of production down the middle. Great, only hope you have of fixing that is your coach actually putting younger guys in those spots and letting them play.

Near where sand and waves meet.
The only 5on5 performer of late among our top nine is Forsberg. RoR, Stammer, Jank with on 5on5 goal each ... Vange without one .... Novak without a goal in 20 games .... Marchy, Sissons, Nyquist with two each. Given that poor 5on5 scoring it would seem like a logical reason to make significant changes to the approach but Bruno keeps putting Stammer and Marchy together when it clearly isn't working. With RoR out week to week, the spot is there for Pärssinen and Svech to 1C/2C but we get Stamkos in the middle.

Its a good thing when RoR went down the coach decided to promote that one w/c with next to zero 5v5 production this season to 1C then. Thatll surely fix things. Oh wait....

ROR is the only movable piece that will bring back significant value. I hope we move him at 50% salary for a haul and give the young centers a shot to see if anyone has "it"

I'd rather have ROR than see more of Sissons/McCarron. Because that's the realistic alternative, not "young centers".

But in a back-to-back against another struggling team and with our best centre injured, what did we do? We could've slotted up with Svech, Novak, Sissons, and McCarron down the middle. We could've gone conservative and with experience and had Sissons, McCarron, Jank, and Novak. Or we could've realized where we are here and went with youth: Svech, Parssinen, Novak, and say McCarron on the grinder line.

We didn't do any of that. Instead we got the :eek2: lineup. Stamkos, Jank/Sissons, Svech, and McCarron. So guys out of position, 1 kid, mostly experience, and AHL tweeners.

There is a comparison for this I'm familiar with, but G-d as my witness, I do not want to make it for fear I speak it into existence. (And it falls down in some of the really critical bits anyways so it shouldn't be an issue. Shouldn't be.)

I assume this is obliquely referencing something, oh, a certain franchise somewhere in Ohio may or may not have pulled not so long ago but long enough ago some will have forgotten?

Could be. Could be.

Let's just say that if Trotz appoints himself HC after a Brunette firing, I'll be that much more worried.

Ok RoR gonna be out a couple weeks. If there wasnt a reason to spread the experience around before there is now. Put the kids in big roles and dont move em. They may stumble. Dont drag their body to the curb to rot. Pick em up, encourage em, and drag them along.

Id like to see some variation of

Forsberg Svechkov Nyquil
Stamkos Parssinen Evangelista
L'Heureux Novak Marchessault
Smith sissons McCarron

Probably because we "need to be a tough team to play against." Yeah, that always works out so well.

At some point we may figure out that teams with more highly-skilled defensemen are hard to play against, rather than just ones that have a few goons.

Our record through 27 2024-25
7-14-6 : 20 points

Our record through 27 23-24
14-13-0 : 28 points
Bare minimum of 37-17-1 to finish the season with a possibility at a playoff spot. Why is Brunette still acting like there's a chance at winning something and pushing the vets instead of transition to a developmental approach? And, why is Trotz letting him?
