KZB, Nash Miller Zucc, Vesey Hayes Fast , Grabner DD ????
Do we not have anyone in the AHL that can be a high energy winger on the 4th? Lettieri? anyone?
I hate the 7 d system

Played well in the last 10 minutes of the first, got our teeth kicked in for the other 50 minutes, yet won the game.

Hockey's a funny game.

David is AV pet so he will play top 6 until AV is gone or left behind and forgotten on Los Angeles International Airport. :) Sharks won 3-0 vs Devils on Friday so it should be an interesting game on monday.

IF hank can at least play like that we’d win a lot of games because we can definitely score goals. Lot harder to do it from behind but this team can score.

Hank did his job today. Wasn’t out of the world amazing didn’t have to be just had to do his job and he did. That includes making a few saves to stsrt the game which has been the biggest issue for him. He’s shown he can settle in after he gets going.

Vesey Hayes Fast is looking like a lunch pail group that is starting to get going. Vesey has been nasty for two or 3 games now

Nash quiet

Mcdonagh awful Again

We need another center desperately I’m amazed we don’t have one with the space we have and the extra dman

Unless you want to trade for Sheary, overpay for Reinhart, or gut the team for Duschene I'm not seeing a lot of options at the moment.

Hayes has looked good playing against the opponents top line. He looks smarter with and without the puck, stronger on his skates (better balance and edges) and is using his size more effectively to shield the puck. Plus stronger acceleration, better awareness of teammates, and some deceptive start-and-stop fakes (ala Zucc) and he's been able to allow his line to better possess the puck and give themseves better angles to shoot or pass from.

I really thought he was done developing as he kind of stagnated last year, I hope he keeps this up all season.

Are we watching the same game? He was excellent on the PK more than a few times today. Go away Go Away Staal
If you added one more "go away," you'd have been, as some say, spitting hot fire. Touche, touche, I say to the man in the lei. Go-Away-Staal... a be good lad and... get outta hea!

I think the 6 shots in 40 minutes note is taken a bit out of context. We held Nashville to 25 shots, despite a late siege in the 3rd. Nashville had 16 shots in the final two periods. It’s was an afternoon game, and both we and Nashville did our fair share to take no risks. Losing the shots 9-3 in a 3rd when you are up a goal is a heck of a lot better than 20-10..

Was it pretty? Of course not. There is a ton of room for improvement. But we have all seen a lot worse than this. We actually shut down things pretty OK in the third considering.

Rangers would also have more shots if they had stopped trying to make perfect passes again and just put it on net instead of through the crease. Annoying when they do that

We wait for high xGF chances. That's how we score. I'm fine with it.

I'm more concerned with what we give up on the other end.

And let's not forget that this is Nashville. If you played NHL 18, and turned off the salary cap and then turned off fair trades, you still couldn't make a defense as good as Nashville's.

Agreed.

I'm all for the coach/team wanting to go for low quantity/high quality shots in the OZ.

But they also need to make sure the opponents aren't getting the same thing the other way. Low quality/low quantity please and thank you.

Definitely.

What I've seen in the analytics and based on the hockey I've watched, I believe that if you're producing offense, you have pretty good control over the quality thereof depending on what you do with it, but if you're conceding offense, your control over the quality has its limits. Sure, it exists, but professional teams get chances if you let them hang around.

This is just a simple matter of: you have more control when you have the puck. Common sense.

On offense, do your thing. Of defense, it's better to control the line and the boards and not even let them do anything to begin with. Which we've been better at the last three games but still not good enough.

Yah, I generally thought they played alright except for maybe the last 5 minutes of the third when suddenly all clearing attempts and passes became impossible to make. Just sometimes frustrating to see all the missed "high scoring chances" and low shot totals...feels like they should fire more shots on net at time, but it is what it is.

Though tdefensive they were alright and the two goals were really from some weird turnovers and flailing at the puck, which is a continuation of the stuff that have troubled them in general this season

like I said, i'm not pleased with this win at all. Maybe I am an ass but seriously, the 2nd and 3rd period were exactly the same as what we've seen the last two weeks
I agree in part. I felt we came out with our most intense period in the first and then had a emotional hangover in the 2nd and 3rd. The hustle was disappointing but we did execute. There have been games we deserved better and lost. Today I think we deserved to have a chance to win.

If you watched the game, you'd see he didn't do this once.

Wait, is there an stat on corsica that measures this? If so, what was the amount of glare? GR% 30?

Lundy has had a shaky start this season but he was one of the top 2 players for us today. No complaints from me with his effort today from me.

In games like this where it's just not there, and you've tried it for 30 minutes and it's not there, then maybe yeah, you adjust and start chucking shot attempts for something dirty.

But I've conceded that we won't adjust much.

Anywho, the DD51 lovefest needs to stop. Mika and Hayes lines have been good, so let them keep going. Put Miller between Kreider and Buch and go to war with that top-9.

I thought Hayes was great today but Mika was pretty bad today. In these early morning games you can never know who will show up. We used to have games at 2am and 6 am so I never knew whether it was better to go to bed or stay up all night. You can see it takes a effect on some players. I wish they schedule some west coast teams like the Kings to play us at noon :D
