Pretty simple for me...

You're either with us, or against us.

I still am a big PK Subban fan, I hope he does well against every team in the NHL, EXCEPT the Montreal Canadiens.

I'm not saying everyone should think like me...just stating, I don't understand how anyone DOESN'T think like me, that's a Habs fan.

I always thought this was what separated us from other fanbases, perhaps I give/gave us too much credit.

I think people chant ex-players name to show a sign of gratitude/adoration. I don't think they'll be chanting PK as he comes flying up the ice with the puck. I think for you to say "you're not a real fan if you chant his name" shows immaturity on your part. I'm a die hard fan, and I would most certainly chant his name at the Bell to show how much he was loved. Doesn't make me less of a fan dude.

Again...this is what I'm referring too.

If I see PK Subban do his classic move where he goes back for the puck, puts his hand on the ice, gains momentum around the net and flies up the ice (God I miss that) and I hear fans start cheering PK PK PK like he did when he was a Hab...I might literally puke.

I certainly don't mind and expect fans to show him respect by cheering for him throughout certain periods of the game, especially during TV timeouts or whatever.

But actively cheering for an opposing player to essentially score against the team you went to the rink and paid money to support...is extremely weak IMO.

If you don't have an issue with it...so be it, doesn't mean I can't have an opinion about it.

Of course they do...and nowhere did I say that it assaults my sensibilities.

I've just always considered Habs fans the best fans in hockey...my opinion would seriously change should this happen tonight. I'd have to lump us all in with Sens fans, and there are fewer fanbases in all of sports that I have least respect for lol

As for me needing to 'lighten up' and accept that his popularity was well earned...I never said it wasn't earned, it certainly was.

I just can't respect a person who calls themselves a Habs fan, cheer for another player on another team, while they're playing the Habs.

You're not a Habs fan if you do that IMO.

But then again, if you or anyone else here falls into that category, I don't think you should care about my level of respect for you any way lol

I'm just stating my feelings on the whole thing

I think it's quite possible for a person to still be a fan and root for their team to win while acknowledging the contributions on and off the ice of a former player.

Let's face it, PK Subban is one of a kind; a player unique to the very conservative atmosphere of the NHL. He is both loved and reviled for this. Those who love him are still fans of the team. I guarantee that.

Kind of sad to see Martinsen benched...

He will bring energy to our club..

Depends of Lehkonen and Byron, IMO. Their scoring needs to wake up at one point. I can see one of them (Lehkonen, most likely), being scratched.

King could be promoted to the 3rd line and Martinsen on the 4th. I don't see Ott and Flynn playing if there's no injury.

I don't want to belabour this too long...you or anyone else here is allowed to do whatever the hell you want, it's not my place or my intention to tell you or others what to do, I'm just sharing what I think.

It's one thing to acknowledge the contributions of a player who did a lot for this team on and off the ice and I think that's what the pre-game tribute is for.

But DURING the game...If you're actively and consciously cheering for an opposing player to essentially score against your team, I'm sorry.

I just don't get it....it's not MY cup of tea and to me, it just drives home some of the reasons WHY this trade went down.

But...to each his own I guess.

Ok well if you're cheering for him to score or whatever, that's ****tty lol. I just assume peeps cheer during whistles or at the beginning of the game. Certainly not during play. Has that happened before? lol

Does PK get cheered or booed by fans at the bell centre? We've booed every returning player but I have a feeling it'll be cheers .

Why would he get booed? He didn't ask to get traded and wanted nothing more than to stay a Hab. Those booing would be nothing less than low life idiots.

I could see it being the most expensive game if you're buying scalped tickets, but it isn't true otherwise. My friend with season tickets paid $75 per seat (in the greys).

$305 is the price of two tickets.

I stand corrected. It's oddly worded as "single tickets only" which I misunderstood. It's the current box office prices, not scalpers, for ticket purchases today that have surged as mentioned above. In any case, at $152.50 for Molson Ex zone that's still double the face value.

I pray we don't hear PK PK PK chants tonight...I certainly don't mind a moment of recognition, and I certainly don't expect fans to boo him

But no PK PK PK chants please...

Don't care if it's before or after the game but during it would be cringe.

Strange POV. There's a difference between being a fan (good) and being a fanatic (bad).

If you've cried or became genuinely angry because of Habs-related stuff, it's time for you to step outside yourself and realize how this is super silly.

It's a sport where you are not involved. It's a performance like watching a band playing music. Seeing the local talent do well is all fine and good but getting upset about stuff like this is all pretty ridiculous.

And yes, PK should definitely be cheered. He did everything right by the team and fans. Not his fault he was traded. Same with Gretzky, for instance. I'll be cheering from living room for a man I truly respect.

who even said they did this? He just said he thinks cheering for another player during a game should be reserved for legends like Lafleur not very good players like PK.

Hoping for a great game where we pick up a point, but Subban ultimately sticks it to the Habs organization with a big play in an overtime win.

That'd be great.

Thanks for that information - not sure what this has to do with anything I wrote though

Again, not sure what this has to do with anything I wrote...I didn't mention being upset to the point of tears or being angry at all.

I don't think you understand my point of view...perhaps you should attempt doing that before suggesting I'm upset about anything.
And yes, PK should definitely be cheered. He did everything right by the team and fans. Not his fault he was traded. Same with Gretzky, for instance. I'll be cheering from living room for a man I truly respect.

Man...did you bother reading ANYTHING I wrote? Never mind understanding it?

I'm talking about when he's on the ice, has the puck...to hear Habs fans cheering PK PK PK, essentially cheering for him to score a goal against the Habs, is weak IMO.

I'm not upset about it, I'm not going to cry, I'm not going to throw a fit...I just find it weak, that's all.

Looking forward to seeing what King brings to the team

So it's okay with you as long as you approve of the player....hmmmm
