DeAngelo is better than Pionk in every aspect of the game. I like Pionk, but Tony is better. He’s better with the puck on his stick, better vision in the o zone and on breakouts, better passer, better in the D zone, better in transition. Pionk has a better one timer. Pionk is fine but I think he’s a 3rd pairing guy.

Pionk has racked up some PP points by shuffling the puck along and screaming rebounds but I think Tony is better offensively too.


Poor Shatty. Nothing has gone right for him since coming here’s. Hopefully he’s not out for a long time. Still want to see Shatty or Tony on PP1. Pionk is not as good at running the PP as either of them, Shatty especially. You have an elite PP QB in the roster but instead keep trotting out Pionk. I don’t get it. PP1 is cold and gets the occasional goal or chance off the rush or a rebound but the large majority of the time they can’t even break let alone get set up. They’re lost, they need someone to run the PP. Pionk just isn’t cutting it. Put him on PP2 and let him blast away.

He hasnt earned the amount of chances Quinn is giving him. It’s like his spot is locked in despite that unit being unable to get anything going seemingly 95% of the time. Quinn not using Shatty on PP1 is as bad as any personnel decisions AV ever made. Having a proven elite PPQB and using him on the second unit in mop up time is just flat out stupid. Especially when the other unit isn’t working. Change it up.

I’ve made this same post basically once a week for like 6 weeks now. PP1 hasn’t looked good for such a long time I see no reason why Pionk hasn’t been switched out for Shatty.

Agreed on the Shattenkirk/Pionk PP thing

It’s the strangest thing I’ve seen. You have one of the best PP QB in the world, your PP stinks and Quinn doesn’t put Shatty or Tony out there

One bad goal and this is take away from that game.

Too many penalties against the best team in the league. End of the story.
 
anyone complaining that we got beat by the most powerful team in the league even without vas in net, needs to get some perspective.

this is the best team in the league right now.

and so we had no business being in that game after period 1.

tampa is strong.

Anybody who looked at the numbers saw Pionk's PP regression coming. The team still doesn't see it when it's happening. Don't get what they see in Pionk.

Some of those calls were suspect and Hank was okay, not great. We really don't need to come into GDT and claim that the score would have been way worse without Hank making saves. It gets very old, especially when he doesn't play at that level. He was fine tonight, just not great.

He played less 5v5 time than DeAngelo, maybe things are starting to change in Rangerstown.

Yeah I don’t know.

Maybe they’re hoping that eventually he works through it with all the minutes he’s playing

He eats minutes like a champ but I just don’t see what they’re seeing
