I am so glad we won, if the Preds won you know they would raise a commemorative banner about it.

Laine looked fast, which is a phrase I haven't used since.....a long time. The whole team looked quite good. This reminded me of beating the Preds in game 7 last year. The Jets were not only fast, but they were tenacious. It seems the Jets are a great team when they combine speed with aggression. The passes were hard and confident. It's a different team when the players are this energized.

First thing Johanson better get suspended , that was awful , almost as bad as the refing . Seriously that refing was so frigging bad if i was Maurice i'd be taking a fine and absolutely call out the NHL for that refing . The refing was so bad it really looked like the refs were told to call penalties on the Jets . As good as the team played the best thing about this game was Helly , man he looked really calm and collected , didn't play the puck as much and didn't give rebounds all game . The goal that they got was a rebound but he made a great stop on the first shot , tough to not give a rebound on that . No Buff and Nashville gets stabby , can't wait until we play them again . Great game Jets !!

Lots of big organ energy on the ice tonight.

Wheeler, especially. Niku especially. Kulikov. Laine, Myers, Lemieux, Hellebuyck, Roslovic. Lots of players stepped right up, as though the season had finally started.

Laine found space, made space, had some amazing chances. He was joking with Rinne in the first few minutes, but he was angry not to score on the Little goal. If you'd only seen him play that game, you'd think he was a lot closer to Auston Motthows than Kyle Connor. Top game from him. I'm ready for the floodgates.

In a game like that you can kinda see why they're stubbornly trying to stick with Lemieux in the lineup. Not just the goals, but that line was difficult to play against tonight, and Copp had a bit of a quiet game. When I first saw that that they were matched up against the Perds top line I shuddered--20 seconds later the Jets took the lead and didn't look back.

Lemieux also needs a bunch of credit for having a good penalty differential. Weird, undeserved penalty tonight--though I kind of understand the urge to call it, given his reputation--and other than that awful hit against Trochek he's been quite well-disciplined, while drawing quite a few penalties. If he can make that a habit, that could be a real plus for him.

Too bad that he didn't play, but it was really nice to see that Petan had so much family there. Losing a parent too young stinks, but it's also an opportunity to take stock of what family means and to fortify some relationships that you've maybe never thought to cherish. I really hope they're having a good time.

KC's a beaut. As is Moz.

I cannot f***ing believe McCauley had the balls to call the Trouba penalty after that goal was called back. Soft as f***.

Felt like Laviolette made a tactical mistake not matching their top line against the Scheifele line.

I think he knew he was going to be struggling with the matchups without Turris. Though I hear the Jets have a second line centre 'problem', too.

I think we may have gotten the best Oilers Boy Club member with Charlie Huddy.

I know he's got a lot of grief--much more-so when Stuart was still in town--but both the players and Maurice seem to love him. I'd be interested to learn what his priorities are, but we never really hear from assistant coaching staff.

Missed the entire game, but 0.974 just to get it in here

Still a meaningless stat.

Have a great Friday.

This was seconds after Schiefele got high-sticked (again).

they missed Turris tonight

That they did. Gaudreau line got pounded by a Jets line that usually struggles to carry play.

Games like that one make me feel like the Jets should do close to nothing at the trade deadline. Great depth on display! Keep those prospects and picks Chevy.

i doubt the jets sit quiet. D depth is still possibly 1 man short. and i'd still like to look for a player to get Laine going again (and it ain't Ehlers coming back).

and that's actually an interesting question. what happens when Ehlers returns? that 4th line was humming tonight. a few more games of that and you have tough decisions

The Jets still have Buff coming back , and Charoit . I would like Niku and Buff and sit Morrow and Charoit but i don't know if that's gonna happen . Maybe Chevy could trade Charoit for something . :naughty:

i think - and rightfully so - Chiarot's ahead of Niku on the depth chart, and the only reason is size and experience. Niku's v v likely the better player (duh), but if the playoffs started tomorrow, i would assume Chiarot's in the line-up and i wouldn't fight that.
Morrow, on the other hand....8 meh games, 2 good games.

So did I, but saw it on the replays. Just viscious and uncalled for. Craig Button made a point to single it out as a dirty play during Sportscentre

That was a real Tomahawk clubbing on Chef. I have yet to see any news on this incident but I hope that it gets reviewed properly.

Its always an adventure with the Banner Kittens.

Just frigging awful , can you imagine if Johanson scored to help the Preds get a win when he should have gotten 5 and the game . :banghead:

Charoit has been decent this season but with how Niku is looking , right now anyway , i don't know how you take Niku out of the lineup .

Rinne seems to be mentally broken against the Jets, maybe due to his playoff meltdown last year.

Helle seems to be mentally unfocused if he doesn't have another keeper on the Jets bench biting at his heels for the starting spot.

From what I watched of the game last night (we were pretty busy with the foster puppy so couldn't watch it all), boy I was impressed with Lemieux and Niku. Lemieux has really grown on me the last few games. He's a pretty good agitator and he can get some greasy goals, valuable talents to have in the playoffs. I especially enjoyed how much he got on Kesler's nerves during the Anaheim game :thumbu:
