Kind of on a '80s heavy metal (glam metal?) kick on the Blake thread, since that thread is basically gone to sublime, so I thought I would post a long-forgotten band with this classic:

If the subject is funny song titles, then I have to add

another horrible song title

and I stumbled on to this....The single worst cover.....ever

For those of you that are guitar buffs, Guitar Center (yeah, I know, they've been ripping me off for about 30 years now) has a sale that I cannot pass up.

This guitar is going on sale for $999 tomorrow. I'm getting it, even if my fianceé leaves me for buying it!

God, that's awful. :(

Thank you!

Creedence is one of my all time top 10 favorite bands and like early Sabbath, should never be covered.

Have anyone ever heard a cover of of war pigs where the singer didn't sound like an injured cat trying to hit the notes that Ozzy once could?

This might be the best

Semi tolerable if you understand that Cake's singer has a style of all his own

but there are plenty of bad ones

Ron, you're a guitar player? I like you more! I already have too much gear but enjoy the new axe. Right now, I have a 2003 LP Standard, 2011 LP Gold top 60's tribute (w/ P-90's) and 2013 SG Standard so no new Gibson's for me.

RE: Bonnamassa

I had never heard of him until about 5 years ago and saw that concert video at Royal Albert Hall. He's pretty good but I still haven't been able to really get into his music.

For Ben: this is one of my favorite bands and I always like this cover. Let me know if you like it or not.

Here is another:

I know I've posted about them in this thread before but as long as we're talking about favorite guitar players, this guy probably takes the cake (guy on left - Dave Knudsen). I feel like he is my generations Mark Knoefler (something with the "Kn" to start the last name I guess). Yeah, big shoes to fill but he is an incredible player and should probably be more known than he is:

Been playing off and on for 32 years now, mostly off. My guitar teacher in 1985 was putting together a band with a female lead that I was supposed to join, but it never took off, then I got a real job, a wife, kids...you know the drill.

Just now getting back into playing the last couple of years, bought a PRS custom job last December (see pic), and been wanting this Gibson for over a year now. Gave away two Fender Squire Strats but gonna get the real deal within the next year or so and that should round out my electric guitar collection for good. Got an old 1982 Raimundo classic guitar, a Martin acoustic that set me back about a grand, and an old Yamaha bass that I rarely touch anymore.

Plus enough amps and pedals to choke a bank account. What the hell, a hobby is a hobby...doubt I will ever play professionally in a band, I just like to learn all the old **** like Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steely Dan, Metallica, some classical and jazz stuff, etc. etc. etc. Got a Yamaha piano that I'm learning to play too.

P.S. Don't have enough imagination to write my own music. I'm limited, that's for sure.

Awesome! and for the record, I don't mind covers. I just HATE covers of War Pigs

I like the Zeppelin one too. Too often when covering Zep songs, the singer tries to be Robert Plant and ....well only Robert Plant can be Robert Plant. David Coverdale is probably the closest.

Here are some covers that I think were better than the original

Nice guitar! Post a pic of your new one if you do go pick it up. What color you gonna get?

I was in a band when I was younger too. We had a female singer as well. I'm not brave enough to post any music. Particularly because I'm not very proud of it. I suck at creating music too. I'm a hobbyist who likes to try and learn songs by my favorite bands. Occasionally, I'll screw around with a looper and make some noise.

That's awesome! What year is that?

I'm going this morning, when they first open up at 11 a.m. I only want the the classic "cherry sunburst candy" color, knowing Guitar Center "bait and switch" tactics, I doubt they have it, but they got all the others. Wouldn't be at all surprised.

They haven't changed the price online, it's still at $1,399. So already the warning siren is going off in my head. I could get that anytime at that price, but hell I sure would like to save $400.

I'll post a pic here if I get it later today.
