In north america? I can understand Europe as they are more open and diverse. I hear some crap in passing also, when an instrument is not used,do you cease to be a musician and merely a computer data enter-er?

How does that work? we had lessons and a piano but not all of us kept it up but did learn to read music which is long forgotten for me.:shakehead
What's MOR?
BTW,you got my birth date wrong:laugh:
MOR is Middle of the Road was what radio stations in the 60s and 70s were called. They played a mix of pop and lite rock. They call it Adult Contemporary nowadays.

Ever hear of Band-in-a-box? I used to use it as a practice partner and base for song writing. I didn't know they still made it, but it's just one example of what's possible nowadays. When does it stop being creative and merely becomes automated?

I can enter a chord progression I know I could never play, choose a tempo and style according to what I want, hit play and out comes a song. The computer made it, but it comes from my ideas. Does that make it invalid?

When I hear DJ's doing remixes and using samples, they're not creating anything. Any kid with an app can copy that.

How does what work? The math in music?

MOR: Middle of the road. Not of any particular style.

No,bit I've heard of a cat in the hat.:D
I suspect everyone might have their own opinion on that matter which most likely would devolve into a huge debate.
And here we go, A DJ is altering original formats and creating a new version. Can compare it to a bartender concocting a new drink using already created liquids.
Some DJ's make a boatload of money and attract huge crowds and create a great party atmosphere.
Seen this man a few times over the years.

But he also makes/produces songs.

Not really the right place for this but it's interesting, and somewhat similar to what happened here in the 70's.

I forgot this was still out there in cyberspace.

Recorded in the beach house in Saltair, BC on a Sunday afternoon, almost 20 years ago.

My buddy Ryk on bass and lead vocals, Zak on the mandolin, Bob on one guitar, and me the higher one, with capo.

We had fun. In your honour.

That's cool, thanks. Saw it was a cover and well done:thumbu: What compelled you guys to do that tune? encounter with Dutch soccer hooligans?

Then in your honor I would reciprocate with sharing baked goods, but guess I'll have to eat it on my own and do a purchase as baking is not a forte.

There are other options that are good,as per @Per Sjoblom could attest to but not sure he ever had ''laced'' ones.

It’s funny, I find the music I didn’t appreciate when I was younger is now the stuff I listen to most. Always a big Hard Rock Gearhead, I find myself listening to more old country and Balladeers!Foghat, Grand Funk,April Wine, and Molly Hatchet are now evenly dispersed with likes of Dean Martin, Gordon Lightfoot, Blue Rodeo, and Buck Owens! It’s either old age or maturity. Whom am I kidding, it’s old age!

I never appreciated Gordon Lightfoot until a few years ago. What a songwriter and guitarist.

Many could probably say the same thing. I moved away from my teen years (late 90s - early 2000s). I barely listen to anything made post-2010 nowadays. I couldn't stand bands like Tragically Hip and now I like them a whole lot. Feels like they were the true Canadian band :(

I listened to Focus live yesterday. Akkerman is a damn good guitarist and the keyboard/flute/yodel guy can really hit the high notes.
