In fairness, Barron could put it all together and become a Petry clone. I suspect his career path will be more like Beaulieu, though: a guy whose talent gives him opportunities, but who can't ever be a regular top 4.

I've disliked everything Trotz has done for about a year, this is the first move I like. Carrier has not looked like an NHL d-man this year and he gets paid way too much for what he brings. Wilsby and Blankenburg have been noticeably better for a way smaller price tag.

Carrier is an ok bottom pairing d-man but he's small.

Barron is quite a bit younger. Not sure if he can improve enough to be a regular top 6 but he's only 23 so maybe.
