.

HuGo gambled by trading for Dach; makes sense they'd also gamble on his contract.
That's why I brought up that managers get blinded by their own handywork.

This is a "potential" contract that is not warranted. But then, Dach is "his" guy. That was the same trap Bergy kept swimming in.

We need a Pollock level manager who is dead cold to anything but winning.

What's the Montreal owner doing? Is he being stupid?

ahhh just like hoffman and dvorak and letting danult were great moves, never change candadian fans.

still dont understand how you can get your panties in a bunch for me taking a shot at the teams management.
We're reacting this way because you sound profoundly ignorant and out of the loop. All the moves you mentioned were made by Bergevin who's no longer with the team and his successors have done an amazing job cleaning up his mess so far.

So yeah, you're either playing dumb or have been living under a rock for the past 8-10 months.

So, from 1993 to 2022, how many good general managers did you guys have?
While Price was active in his prime years, have they succeeded in winning the Cup even once?

Reminds me of the situation around how Turris ended up in Ottawa for a change of scenery.
Dach has even more upside in my opinion. Amazing raw talent, going to a place he can develop at the right pace with positive people around him. They're in full rebuild mode which should help him reach his potential. A great trade by Hughes. Awesome value signing for the Habs. I don't see how someone doesn't like this deal. But I mean HF is full of haters. So they're is always a contrarion. Or just posters that will irrationally hate on teams because they are a rival/are jealous. I don't like the Canadiens as they are a rival but I can still look at the trades/signings they make and be objective. Since Hughes has taken over he has done a heck of a job. Lucky for them he stuck to his guns and chose Slafkovsky too. While the majority of the fanbase wanted Wright. Some fans in here told me they had to take Wright because of the backlash from the fanbase. Just a wild way to look at it.

You're assuming Hughes/Gorton gave Dach the contract based on feelings. It's possible they know something about his development we don't. If Dach becomes a 40-50 pt. C, his contract becomes a bargain and HuGo get credit for a cold, calculated cap saving. Right now we really don't know.

Is KH a soft touch as a former agent when it come to contracts ? Might be.

Could the contract just makes sense ? It could.

Is it possible that almost every other GM would have gone for a 2 year bridge deal as a show me contract , and KH didn't want to do that to Dach ? Is it that he knows how players tick and thinks that " show me " deals don't always work and he thought to get the best out of Dach the guy needed financial security so as to just be able to focus on his play ? I could be over thinking it.

I think it is a bit too much for a bit too long, but it's all good. No issues here, KH needs to do his thing.

This contract could definitely backfire, but it's not completely unreasonable to assume that his problems for the last two years were caused by his broken wrist. If he's healthy, this could turn out to be a good deal.

Have seen a lot of people talking about this and it's pretty intriguing. Some people say yes, others say no.
Was also in the UFA group but was told why. Normally it would be yes but apparently because the injury that made him miss lot of time coupe years ago happened at WJC, it made that year not count towards the counter. He'll be RFA.

Yeah there is no chance they'd be walking him to UFA.

what are you talking about. All the GM's Mtl had between 1993 and 2002 were bad. HuGo have done more good things since they took over than all he others in 20 years.

I like this for the habs. Love Dach as a player hope he can bounce back after a rough start to his career

Oh damn. I just realized that Dach was drafted 3rd overall. Just like Drouin, Galchenyuk and Kotkaniemi.

Bloody hell.

4th time the charm ? I mean how many underperforming 3rd overall picks can we possibly get ? Dach must break the streak ?

I guess superstition in hockey never dies.

Golden Spooner that grew up worshipping but not a hockey man.

If Dach develops to a 2C or better, GREAT.

I'm arguing that it's not warranted.. yet. The normal course would be 2 yr show-me contract.

I obviously hope I'm wrong.

Not much risk. It wouldn’t be the worst contract to buy out if you had to but there’s no reason to buy it out as they rebuild. I don’t get the attitude here, if a contract under 4 is breaking your cap….your cap had issues before. This makes sense for a rebuilding team.

It was a risk to trade for him so it's no surprise they'll take a similar risk with his contract. It will be interesting to see how MLS uses him. He has size, skates well and is good on the forecheck. I'm not sure he'll ever be a scorer and he's terrible on faceoffs. How does he fit? On the wing with Evans?
